PE with Coach Weir

On February 9th we had our school wide Kids Heart Challenge/Jump rope for heart event. In preparation for Kids Heart Challenge, this past month we have been learning how to take care of our hearts and participating in cardio-pumping challenges involving jumping. Students have been raising money for the American Heart Association to help kids with special hearts. During this event, grade levels came outside to show off their jump roping skills individually and with their peers. We will conclude our jump rope lesson the week of March 3rd.

The week of March 6th we will begin our dance unit. We will end it with a dance-a-thon on March 10th. Glowsticks will be available for purchase beginning March 6th. No outside glowsticks will be allowed.

Library with Ms. Wood

Conlee library books are just waiting for students to check them out! There are many students in each grade level that are working their way through a series and many that are finishing chapter books for the first time.

In addition to the books we have in the library, Conlee also has ebooks students can read at home on their computer or electronic device.

Here are some tutorials on how to find these ebooks for check out.

Student may also enroll in my Epic! books class. They will have access to the books on the site for free from 7am-3pm on weekdays.

Here are some tutorials on how to find the ebooks for check out and a little sneak peek of what you can find on Epic! books.

If you have any questions, head down to the library and ask Ms. Wood. Parents, should you have questions please email me and I will be happy to help any way I can.

Music with Mrs. Frietze

Hi Conlee Family! Your musicians have been doing a great job this year! So far, we have been traveling around the world learning about music from different cultures. Along the way, our students have put on phenomenal grade level concerts and have been learning how to play piano! Here is what we can look forward to for the remainder of the year.

5th grade will be starting their recorder unit. Recorders will be stored in the music classroom until the end of the school year.

4th grade will be learning how to read music notes and start preparing for their 5th grade curriculum.

3rd grade through 2nd grade will continue to learn about music around the world through singing, playing Orff instruments, and through the history of composers.

1st grade and kinder will continue to learn about steady beat, note values, and rhythms through Orff and percussion instruments.

Thank you for your continuous support!

Art with Mrs. Guillen

Hello My Amazing Conlee Artists and Amazing Conlee Families!!

I feel so blessed to be teaching at Conlee and teaching all the wonderful students here! This year is the first year since Covid that the students have been able to work with ceramic clay! All the students worked so hard and did so well with their clay projects. For the clay pieces the next steps are once, the clay is fired, and the students get to paint, these clay pieces will be heading home!

This is a new season and new art shows and displays will be happening all over Conlee and Las Cruces. In April there will be new elementary art including work from Conlee students at the Dona Ana Government Building and in May there will also be the Elementary Art Show at the Karen Trujillo Central office and The Learning Center buildings. Also new art displays have gone up in the kindergarten hallway and the cafeteria at Conlee, and coming soon there will be new art in the Conlee hallway art gallery!

Keep up all the amazing work!!

Ms. G. (Ms. Guillen)
