💬 Message From The Principals: 💬 Message From The Principals:

Dear Winton Families,

It is so much fun to see the learning happening throughout Winton each and every day! Students and teachers are settled into their routines, and grade-level standards are being taught, practiced, and mastered. As we move into the heart of the school year, teachers will continue communicating with families about what students are learning in the classroom and sharing ways you can support that learning at home.

Here are a few important reminders for our Winton families:

1. Coeur d’Alene School District Levy — November 3
Election Day is approaching! Please take time to learn about the CDA School District’s replacement levy and make a plan to vote on November 3.

Every two years, school districts across Idaho may ask their local communities to vote on a supplemental levy to help fund their school district. The state of Idaho provides funding for a portion of a school district’s operating costs, while local communities can provide additional funding through a local supplemental levy. This local funding gives communities and school districts an opportunity to direct resources toward areas that are important to their schools and community.

2. Changing Weather — Dress for the Season
As the weather continues to change, please make sure your student comes to school dressed appropriately for the day, including a sweatshirt or jacket. We go outside for recess unless it is pouring rain, so please help your student be prepared for the elements.

If your family needs assistance with clothing for your student, please reach out to Ms. Bri, our school counselor. We are happy to help!

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are so proud of the learning and growth happening at Winton and are grateful to have such wonderful families as part of our Winton Wolf Pack!

Starting on Monday, October 12, Winton will begin using a new text-based system called Attendance Pro to keep you informed when your child is absent, and to make it simple for you to respond, ask questions, and share notes, all without a phone call.

Here's what's new:

  • You'll receive a text when your child is absent. A message will come from 1-208-927-1802. Please save this number in your contacts so you never miss it.

  • You can text back directly. Reply to confirm an absence, share the reason, or ask a question. It's that simple.

  • You can send photos of notes by text. Need to submit a parent note or a doctor's note? Just take a photo and text it to the same number. No need to drop anything off at the office.

The texts are powered by our AI attendance assistant, and every response goes directly to our attendance team and your child's record is updated accordingly.

If you have questions or need help, please reach out to us. We're grateful for your partnership and committed to making every school day count.

A parents right to know

Did you know?

Federal law requires that each school district receiving Title I funds notify the parents of each student attending a Title I school that information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teacher(s) may be requested.

As a parent of a student attending a Title I school, you have the right to know:

  • Is my child’s teacher certified to teach the grades and subject areas assigned?

  • Is my child’s teacher teaching with a provisional license, meaning the state has waived the teaching requirements?

  • What is the college major of my child’s teacher?

  • What degree or degrees does the teacher hold?

  • If there are instructional aides working with my child, what are their qualifications?

  • If my child is or will be taught more than 4 or more consecutive weeks this year by a teacher who is not highly qualified, will I be notified in a timely manner?

To request the state qualifications for your child’s teacher or instructional aide, please contact the office of your school. In addition, if you would like more information about your child’s school, please feel free to contact the office for more information at (list phone number).

October Character Trait: Respect!

💙 October Character Trait: RESPECT

This October, we are focusing on Respect! Students are learning that respect means treating ourselves, others, and our school with kindness and consideration—even when we disagree. Students can practice respect by listening when others are speaking, using kind words, following directions, caring for school materials, and including others. Families can help at home by modeling respectful communication, encouraging children to listen and take turns, talking about how our words and actions affect others, and recognizing moments when your child shows respect. Together, we can help our students build respectful habits that make our school and community a better place for everyone!

Pumpkin Decorating Contest! Pumpkin Decorating Contest!

A fun family activity to do at home!

We'd like to encourage you all to participate in a fun family activity at home. Purchase a small pumpkin, decorate it with your student, and have them bring it to school! Our staff will be voting on the most creative pumpkin for each grade level and winners will be announced at the Leader of the Pack Assembly on October 30th!

Next PTA Meeting--> Wednesday, Oct. 21st @ 3:45

Our PTA does incredible work to support Winton students and our school community. We invite you to join our monthly meetings and play a part in shaping the experiences and opportunities you’d like to see at Winton.

Children are welcome at all meetings, and we draw one lucky winner at each meeting for an Amazon gift card!

❗New Need to Knows ❗New Need to Knows

--> Halloween: Winton will celebrate Halloween on Friday, Oct 30th. We will start the day with a school parade starting at 9:15 and ending in the gym. From there we will go into our October Leader of the Pack Assembly. Finally, teachers will hold parties during a set time of day. Look for more infomration to come.

--> Smart Snacks & Birthday Treats: The Coeur d’Alene School District must follow USDA Smart Snacks requirements for all food and beverages served to students. As a result, we can no longer allow treats or snacks that do not meet these requirements to be shared with students. We are asking families to bring in smart snack options, trinkets, or think of other ways to celebrate student birthdays outside of treats.

--> Smart Watches & Cell Phones: All CDA School District schools have a no cell phone policy for students. Cell phones need to be put away once students enter the building and stay in backpacks until students exit the building. Smart watches need to be turned off while students are in the building.
