Learning & Celebrations
Dear Panther families,
Our new CharacterStrong trait for October is responsibility. Building on September's focus on respect, students will now learn how to organize their time, tasks, and belongings. We will also continue developing relationship skills and emotion regulation, which are critical components of our social-emotional learning curriculum. New lessons are taught every Wednesday and reinforced daily during morning meetings right after breakfast. Please ensure your child arrives on time so they don't miss this valuable instruction, and feel free to ask them what they are learning each week!
Good to Know
- The Illinois state deadline for required vaccinations or exemption forms is October 15. If you are having trouble scheduling an appointment with the Zion Health Department, the Zion Walmart is another option many families have used successfully. For questions or assistance, please contact our health aide, Esmeralda Moreno, at 847-379-0318.
- Connecting with our families is a top priority. Please join us for our first Elmwood Chat and Chew on Tuesday, October 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the school gym, featuring special guest Dr. Lawson, District 6 Superintendent. Translation services will be provided, and all families are welcome to attend as we partner together to support student growth and learning.
- Sign-up forms for extracurricular clubs will be sent home on Monday, October 5, and are due back by Wednesday, October 7.
