MTC Jr Fall 2026
Monday Class
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Please remember that the group will practice Monday-Thursday and they are required in order to be in the shows on the weekend.
If you have a school/grade impacted event that you already know is a conflict, please let us know as soon as possible so arrangements can be made. Sporting events, travels, etc are not excused absences for show week.
Each group has a Friday morning, school preview show that is during the day. This means that students will be missing school Friday morning. We will have excuse letters you can give to the schools that they may or may not accept. If you are planning to not be at the Friday morning show, we need to know that as soon as possible so other performers can cover your student’s part that morning.
If you have a class or group that would like to attend the Friday morning shows, please have them reach out to us as soon as possible. We can offer group seating and pricing for groups larger that 20, but we need to block it off before we start ticket sales if possible.
Class September 28
Notes from Ms Shelley
This week:
We started class with blocking and blocked from scene 8 to scene 10. This section included our vocal and choreography for this week as well. We learned and perfected Auf Wiedersehen Augustus. While choreography was happening, Ms. Shelley took the ticket winners to the lobby and we blocked scene 10 up to ‘You Go Whacha Want’. At the end of class, we took 30 minutes to run from the beginning of the show as far as we could.
As we get into the next 5 weeks, we will be running scenes and songs together in sequential order. This can be overwhelming for students who have not practiced or only open their scripts when they are in class. It is paramount that students begin (if they haven’t already) practicing sequentially through the show. There are road maps in each student’s script and they need to begin filling them out if they have not already.
Please also be diligent about practicing with the choreography videos provided on Youtube. When we started to run the show Monday, very few people remembered the choreography for “Candy Man”. We walked through it and many recalled it after that, but practice at home is paramount. Please take time this week to make sure your student feels confident in the dances and songs he or she is in. As we near week of show, nothing is worse than feeling overwhelmed and under prepared.
In an effort to help with this preparation, we are adding one extra rehearsal for both Junior theater companies. On Friday October 23rd from 4-6 pm, the Monday cast will meet for an extra rehearsal. This will be a run through rehearsal to help students put together stretches of the show and iron out transitions. If at all possible, please make plans to be there!
Next Week - October 5:
- Choreography- The Invisible Corridor
- Blocking- We will be working on Scenes 11 and running from the beginning of the show. Scenes 1-4 should be completely off book. Scenes 5-10 are due off book by October 12.
At Home Practice This week:
- Please read through scenes 10, 11, 12 and 13 3 times weekly.
- Review all previous dances and the dance learned today.
- Please practice the choreography videos 3 times weekly.
- Once the above assignment has been completed, please work ahead on your individual lines or song.
We are getting to the part of the semester where the scenes compound and the required learning is greater. The BEST way to build your child’s skills and confidence is daily practice at home. Please use the videos and tools here in the newsletter.

TICKETS ARE ON SALE NOW!
General Ticket Information
- All shows are held at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in downtown Mooresville
- Each person over the age of 1 attending a show has to have a ticket/seat purchased, this is a Citizen Center/fire marshal rule
- All seats are reserved for you when you purchase a ticket. When you go to the show you wish to attend, a seating chart will be shown allowing you to choose where in the theater you would like to sit. There is no need to come super early anymore, as your seat is reserved for you at each show.
- When you purchase tickets, you will need to make sure you have the digital ticket or a printed version with you at the shows to scan and enter the theater. You are able to add these to digital wallets like other events you attend.
- All tickets are non-refundable. It is HIGHLY recommended that you do not purchase tickets for all your family and friends who are interested but have them visit the website, click the large button for MTC tickets and purchase their own tickets. All too many times we see families purchase large amounts of tickets and then people aren't able to make it and we will not be able to refund these tickets.
- The shows for Jr. indicate which cast is performing at which show. Please make sure you have your friends and family select the correct cast so they make it to the correct show. We will not exchange or refund tickets if the cast that they were supposed to see has already had their performances.
- We can exchange tickets up to 24 hours before the first show.
- We will give parents a heads up as shows begin to sell out.
If you have any questions, please let us know!
