Message from Dr. Iskric

Greetings Roller Families,

Welcome back to the school year 2024-2025. We hope you had an enjoyable summer break. As we step into this new school year, our district's mission remains focused on providing education and support to our students. We are excited to have our students return and are immensely grateful for the ongoing support from our school community. Let's work together to make this year great.

A major change for this school year is our school day times. School hours for all students at 8:00am to 2:50pm. Research shows that a later start time can lead to better student health and performance. We are also offering before and after school care provided through Champions. Please refer to our website for further information.

We encourage you to be engaged in your child’s school activities. Effective communication is a pivotal element in your child's achievements. Please try and stay informed and support your child by doing the following:

  • Regularly visit our website and follow our social media accounts for vital updates.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with your child's school, especially their teachers, to ensure appropriate progress is being made.
  • Direct any questions to your child's teacher and/or principal. We are here to assist you throughout the year.

Your child's success is important to us, and it takes the collective effort of the entire school community to ensure their success. I wish you a fantastic school year ahead.

Dr. Mick Iskric, Jr.

Superintendent

Message from Mr. Slade

Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year! We are thrilled to greet another year full of opportunities, growth, and learning here at the Steelton-Highspire School District.

As we step into this new academic year, we carry forward the momentum from last year’s successes and are energized by the potential for new achievements. Our dedicated team of educators, staff, and administrators has been working diligently over the summer to prepare for a year of enriching experiences and academic excellence.

We believe that collaboration between home and school is key to our students' success. We encourage open communication and invite you to stay actively involved in your child’s education. Our doors are always open, and we value your feedback and partnership as we work together to support our students.

As we embark on this new school year, let’s remember to embrace challenges as opportunities, celebrate our achievements, and support one another with kindness and respect. Together, we can make this year one of our best yet.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the Steelton-Highspire School District community. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead filled with learning, growth, and success!

Welcome Back From the Jr/Sr High School Principals

Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year! We hope you enjoyed your summer break and are ready to return to school with renewed energy and enthusiasm. The start of a new year is always filled with anticipation, and excitement is truly an understatement—Ms. Gross and I are thrilled to see all of you back in the hallways of Steelton-Highspire Junior/Senior High School!

This year, we are proud to introduce our school theme: “Character is Power!” At Steelton-Highspire, we believe that character is the key to unlocking not just academic success, but personal growth and leadership in our community. This year, we will focus on helping each scholar develop the qualities of integrity, responsibility, and empathy, because these traits will empower you to reach new heights in your education and beyond. Through this theme, we will be weaving the importance of character into everything we do, from classroom lessons to extracurricular activities.

Our students in grades 7-12 have been thriving, and this year, we are committed to raising the bar even higher. With our motto of High Accountability, High Support, High Student Outcomes, we are dedicated to ensuring that every scholar reaches their full potential. High accountability means that we hold ourselves, our students, and each other to the highest standards. High support ensures that no scholar is left behind; we are here to guide, mentor, and provide the resources needed for every student to succeed. And with these pillars in place, we are confident that we will see High Student Outcomes across the board—academically, socially, and emotionally.

We understand that success doesn’t come without challenges, and that’s why we are committed to walking alongside each of our students every step of the way. Whether it’s providing academic support, engaging in social-emotional learning, or encouraging participation in clubs, sports, and activities, we are here to make sure every scholar feels empowered to shine. We encourage families to partner with us in this journey by staying involved, keeping open lines of communication, and supporting your child’s education both at school and at home.

Ms. Gross and I are honored to lead this incredible community, and we can’t wait to see what this school year holds for all of us. Let’s continue to work together to make Steelton-Highspire a place where every student not only succeeds but thrives.

Here’s to a fantastic 2024-2025 school year filled with learning, growth, and success. Remember, “Character is Power!” Let’s make this year our best one yet!

With Roller Pride,

Dr. Cordero, Principal & Ms. Gross, Assistant Principal
