Child Tax Credit direct payments have begun

  • Look for a deposit labeled “CHILDCTC” in your bank account.
  • The federal American Rescue Plan increased the amount of the 2021 Child Tax Credit to support families with children. The full benefit of the Child Tax Credit is now $300 per month per child under age 6 and $250 for each child age 6 to 17. To get money to families sooner, the IRS will send families half of their 2021 Child Tax Credit as monthly payments for six months (July – December 2021) and you’ll receive the remaining tax credit when you file your taxes next year. Child Tax Credit information is available in multiple languages. Learn more frequently asked questions
  • Did you file taxes in the last two years or sign up to get a stimulus check last year? Then you don’t have to do anything to get the money you’re already owed! The IRS will automatically send you a monthly payment by direct deposit or check starting on July 15, 2021 if you are eligible.

Didn’t file taxes in the last 2 years? There’s one easy step to start getting your Child Tax Credit payments. Just fill out a simple form to begin receiving your monthly payments.

  • Go to childtaxcredit.gov for more information
