Thank You HMS!
The HMS Ambassador Club would like to thank everyone for their spirit and support of Maddie's Promise last Friday.
Once again, the HMS community came together in support of a very worthwhile cause. Whether you were all decked out in purple, bought a t-shirt or a sweatshirt, or made a donation, thank you for your help!
Hingham CARES Day
This past Monday, HMS students attended presentations aimed at helping them make positive and healthy choices in their lives, courtesy of Hingham CARES as a part of our second annual Hingham CARES Day at HMS.
Grade six students viewed the short documentary film, Taking A Toke, which focused on the dangers of vaping, and heard from the film's producer, Lori Tobin.
Students in grade seven learned about the importance of avoiding controlled substances, and the damage that can be done by them during a presentation entitled No First Time.
Finally, eighth graders heard from current high school students about the SADD program, as well as the devastatingly negative impact alcohol use and abuse could have on their lives from former Hingham students who shared their stories of recovery.
Girls on the Run - HMS Heart and Sole Team
This past Saturday, 6th-8th grade girls laced up their shoes and crossed the finish line at the Girls on the Run 5K. The race, held on Boston Common, is the culmination of an 8-week training program that promotes running while building confidence, connection, and community. More than 3,000 girls from the Greater Boston community participated in the 5K event.
A special thanks to our Heart & Sole coaches Ms. Curran and Ms. Von Freymann for all the time and effort they dedicated to making this first year of the program at HMS a huge success!
Poetry Out Loud
Congratulations to Chloe Hamilton, who won the Poetry Out Loud Contest! The top five performers include Chloe Hamilton, Olivia Gordon, Holly Seggev, Jackson Baird, and Clara Lambert. All fifty students who participated delivered wonderful and entertaining performances!
Eighth grade students brought in artifacts for “show & tell” in their English Language Arts Literature Circle groups as a culminating activity. Objects ranged from teddy bears to Chinese bibles to articles about the Montgomery bus boycott.
News from the World Culture Club
The World Culture Club wrapped up a year of wonderful and engaging activities related to cultures from around the world this past week with a Midsummer Celebration. Students made floral crowns and wreaths in the tradition of Scandinavia.
We can't wait to explore more of our world next year!

Beautifying HMS: Thank you to Blue Stem Natives!
Our front entrance just got a makeover thanks to the beautiful selection of native perennials from Blue Stem Natives! Our new planter is gorgeous and we loved collaborating and learning more about native plants of New England and all the benefits they bring to our community and ecosystem.
