A Message From Mrs. Lucas, BHS Principal
Hello Bobcat Families,
I hope you’re gearing up for the winter snow heading our way! Whether you plan to enjoy a sled ride, build a snowman, or warm up with hot chocolate by the fire, I hope you find time for fun and family togetherness. Today’s message includes a few important reminders.
School is closed for students on Monday, January 26, for a teacher workday.
The second quarter has officially ended, and report cards will be available soon. As always, ParentVUE is the best place to access the most up-to-date information on student progress.
With winter weather in the forecast, please stay tuned to local news for school closing updates. Students were reminded to take home their school-issued laptops yesterday (Thursday, January 22) in case PWCS announces a Code Orange day. You can visit the PWCS Closings, Delays, and Emergencies page for additional details.
We encourage all students to make use of Khan Academy for extra practice in reading, writing, and math.
The PWCS annual Gallup Survey opens February 9 for families, staff, and students. The survey window closes on February 20 for employees and February 28 for families. Students will complete the survey at school during Advisory next month. Your feedback is incredibly valuable—it helps us identify strengths, areas for growth, and ways to continue improving our schools and workplace.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to ensure every student thrives.
Principal Lucas

Tutoring Opportunities
Varsity Tutoring
PWCS students have access to free online tutoring 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Students can access Varsity by logging in to PWCS Portal. To log in to PWCS Portal, students use their PWCS username and password. See this website for more information.
Khan Academy Free Access via the PWCS Portal for Students
All students in grades 9–12 now have access to Khan Academy through the PWCS Portal, powered by ClassLink. This learning platform offers personalized tools, instructional videos, and practice assessments designed to support academic success—especially in preparation for the PSAT and SAT.
Getting Started Is Easy:
Log in using your PWCS username and password (do not include “@pwcs-edu.org”).
Click the Khan Academy icon to launch the app and begin exploring resources.
Khan Academy is highly recommended for students preparing for standardized tests. Its content is aligned with College Board standards offering targeted practice to help students build confidence and improve performance. The most commonly used SAT preparation courses include:
SAT: Math
SAT: Reading and Writing
These courses are selected because they reflect the core sections of the SAT exam. Khan Academy’s SAT Math course covers algebra, problem-solving, data analysis, and advanced math topics. The Reading and Writing course focuses on grammar, vocabulary in context, and evidence-based reading comprehension, all essential skills for the SAT.
To access the SAT Prep courses, click on the “Courses” menu located at the top of the screen. Scroll down and select “Test Prep” from the list of available subjects. Under the Test Prep section, this where you’ll find the two main course options: “SAT Math” and “SAT Reading and Writing.” These courses are designed in partnership with the College Board and provide targeted practice aligned with the actual SAT exam format.
PWCS encourages all high school students to take advantage of this district provided resource to support their learning and college readiness.
