WEEK 32
Week 32 (April 21 - April 25)
Greeting World-Class Parents and Guardians,
Despite two unexpected internet outages across the district, we powered through and had an absolutely incredible week!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Spring Fest 2025! Your energy, support, and smiles made the event truly unforgettable. From fun activities to meaningful connections, it was a beautiful celebration of our school community. The PTA board couldn’t have done it without your support.
A huge congratulations again to our phenomenal 1st grade team for earning the title of Team of the Month! Your commitment, collaboration, and pursuit of excellence continue to set the bar high—thank you for leading by example.
Bravo to Mr. Conger, Ms. Maike Caudle Rozhavsky, and our talented student artists for curating such a breathtaking art showcase. The event was a beautiful celebration of creativity, and it would not have been possible without your dedication and vision. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Maike Caudle Rozhavsky for her generous purchase of frames to showcase our students’ artwork. Your thoughtful contribution added a professional and personal touch that truly elevated the presentation of their creative efforts. It meant so much to our students to see their work honored in such a special way.
Congratulations to the following students for having their artwork recognized among all the incredible pieces displayed! Your creativity, effort, and artistic talent truly stood out—what an amazing accomplishment! We are so proud of you for sharing your gifts with our school community

To Mrs. Birnbaum, Ms. Shegog & Ms. Brown who helped bring Exceptional Children's Week to life: thank you. Your enthusiasm and inclusive spirit continue to inspire, and it’s a joy to see how our community embraces and celebrates every learner. A sincere thank you as well to Mr. Cannon for thoughtfully organizing the post-it notes on the KINDNESS wall and ensuring the space is beautifully arranged and welcoming. Your attention to detail creates a meaningful and uplifting environment that perfectly reflects the overall climate and culture of our school.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Elliott for spearheading our school fundraiser, which made it possible for us to win our brand-new book vending machine! Your dedication, organization, and commitment to our students’ success continue to make a lasting impact. We’re also grateful to Mr. Davis for taking the time to carefully set up the new vending machine. Thanks to your support, we’re now ready to stock it with books and create an exciting new way for students to access and enjoy reading
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
La Amistad will be closed on Monday, April 21, 2025, in observance of the Easter holiday weekend. There will be NO La Amistad afterschool programming on this day for Hawthorne Elementary School Students: Parents, we kindly ask that you make alternate arrangements for your child’s care on this date. Please notify your child’s teacher of transportation changes in advance.
Lost & Found - Please take a moment to visit our Lost and Found to retrieve any of your child’s missing items—jackets, sweaters, hats, lunchboxes, water bottles, and more. Unclaimed items will be donated to Goodwill at the end of each month, so be sure to check before they’re gone. Thank you for your help in keeping our Lost and Found clear and your student’s belongings where they belong!
Square 1 Art - Your students have been working diligently in art class this year, expanding their knowledge and skill sets. We have done a recent project and submitted it to Square1 Art, a company that can scan in student artwork and utilize it as desired to make keepsakes that can be cherished for years to come. See the flyer below for more details, but you should expect to see your child's artwork from this project coming home this week, along with their customized catalogs, displaying many different options available for purchase. The DEADLINE TO ORDER is Friday, APRIL 25th, and ordered items should arrive in time for Mother's Day! Additionally, ALL PROCEEDS this year will go directly towards additional funding for the ART PROGRAM here at Hawthorne! As an added bonus, you can also upload your own artwork or pictures and order items featuring those uploads prior to April 25, 2025, and Hawthorne will still get credit for those purchases, too! Happy Shopping and thank you for your ongoing support of our school!
As we move forward, I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment. Please remind your children that while we are committed to providing enriching opportunities for growth, this can only be achieved when positive behavior is consistently demonstrated. We’ve made great progress, but we must remain vigilant—especially during carpool hours. I kindly ask that everyone continue to follow staff instructions during both AM and PM carpool to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
Additionally, I’d like to highlight the critical role of consistent student attendance in supporting academic success. Our goal is for no student to miss more than 18 days of school, aiming for a 95% attendance rate this year—up from 93% last year. Your support is key to achieving this target, as consistent attendance lays the foundation for providing the best education possible for every student.
Once again, thank you for your support and dedication. It’s truly an honor to collaborate with each of you in educating and nurturing your children. Let’s finish strong and continue the great work we’ve been doing together! Let’s make this week count—on purpose as we continue to Go for G.O.L.D - Growing Our Learners Daily!
Proud to Serve,
-Principal Henley

#Going for the G.O.L.D. (Growing Our Learners Daily)
As our 3rd–5th grade students prepare to take the Georgia Milestones, we want to lift their spirits, boost their confidence, and celebrate their hard work with a week of fun Dress-Up Days! This is an exciting time, and we know that with the support of our families, students will rise to the challenge.
Each themed day is designed to motivate, encourage, and remind our students that they are prepared, they are capable, and they are not alone—we’re cheering them on every step of the way!
We invite you to join us in making this week memorable. Help your child participate in the dress-up fun, speak words of encouragement each morning, and remind them how proud we are of their progress. With positivity at home and focus at school, we know our students will shine!
