Irvington WeeklyNewsletterDecember 12, 2025

Thanks to everyone who helped with this year's giving tree. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to help sixteen families (including 49 children!) with thick coats and other supplies and toys this winter. Thank you so much!

Coming in 2026

Winter break is just around the corner, and the PTA would like to share some of the events coming in January. More information on all these events will be shared in the new year:

  • Winter Recycling Drive: Save those hard-to-recycle items over break and plan to bring them to the drive on January 7. Check out our website homepage if you need a reminder of what is being collected.

  • Clothing Drive: In case you’re doing some sorting over break, hold on to any clothes size 4T to adult that are in good condition for our clothing drive coming January 12-16. Donations go to the PPS Clothing Closet, where students across the district can access free clothing.

  • PTA Meeting: Save the date...Monday January 12, 5:30-7:30pm for our next PTA general meeting.

  • Read-A-Thon: The fourth annual Read-A-Thon is back January 20-30. Start hyping up your readers to log those minutes!

Lunch Servers Needed--Sign up for January Now!

The December lunch calendar still has a few slots open next week and the January lunch calendar is now live! Please consider signing up now particularly for January so we can make sure to cover these slots before folks go off on the holiday break. If you have any questions, please reach out to Betsy at bihuigens@gmail.com or 503-899-0194. Thank you!

Next Movie Night on 12/12 <REPEAT>

  • When: Friday, December 12. Doors open and disco party at 6:15pm, movie begins at 6:30pm. Use the cafeteria doors behind the school for entry/exit.

  • Who: Irvington students and their families. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult, and please remember that kids need to stay in the cafeteria during the event.

  • Food and Drink: Free popcorn provided! Please bring your own water bottles filled with water only. Picnic dinners are okay, too. Thank you in advance for cleaning up after yourselves.

  • Seating: Bring a blanket or camp chair to sit on. Cafeteria tables are also available.

  • Disco: Enjoy some fun lights, music, and dancing before the show and during a short intermission.

Family Gym "Night" on Sunday, 12/14 <REPEAT>

Family Gym “Night” is now in the morning! Bring the whole family and join us in the Irvington School Gym Sunday, December 14, from 10am-12pm. We’ll have music and will cycle through a variety of organized games during the two hour block. Past activities have included bowling, obstacle courses, community-building games, soccer, floor hockey, parachute, kids vs. adults games, and more. Enter through the gym doors at the back of the school. Knock loudly when you arrive. Please come by any time during open hours. All kids should have a supervising adult present. Questions? Email familynight@irvingtonschool.com!

Next Sip and Spill on 12/17 <REPEAT>

Join us after drop-off on the blacktop for coffee, donuts, and a moment to connect. We’ll talk about how we're feeling about the superintendent's recommendation for Scenario C and how we’re preparing our mind, body, and spirits for the holiday break, with room for both honesty and humor as we navigate this together.
  • When: 8:00-8:45am, Wednesday, December 17

  • Hosted by: Irvington PTA’s Community Connections Committee
