If you haven’t already attended our Canvas Basics and Digging Deeper Training, we will be offering two additional training sessions on Tuesday October 26 and Wednesday October 27th. On the 26th, we will be offering a general overview of Canvas basics and on the 27th, we will be digging deeper and exploring Canvas assignments, modules, and much more. Click here to sign up! Space is limited since this is an in person training so please RSVP as soon as possible to ensure your place. This google form will be locked once we have reached our occupancy limits. Attendees will be compensated via hourly timesheet if they have not previously attended the New Teacher Canvas Basics and Digging Deeper training sessions. Both trainings will be held from 3:30-5:00 at the IMC located at 4680 North Ave.

The Learning Collaborative (TLC) will be hosting monthly office hours for teachers/staff to assist with Canvas and technology questions. Please bring your technology and Canvas questions to our drop-in office hours from 2:30-4:30. We will answer your questions or direct you to someone who can! Our next Tech/Canvas Office Hours session will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd. Please see our flyer for the zoom link and more details!

We know there have been some Canvas/Aeries syncing issues lately and we wanted to pass along some resources to help you in this process. If this is the first time you are syncing your grades to Aeries or if you just need a refresher, here is a Grade Sync Resource Page that walks you through the steps needed to make the sync happen.

If you are seeing errors when you try to sync, make sure you check your grade sync menu on Canvas. The “logs” will help you identify the issue that is occurring. If you need any assistance, please fill out a Technology Help Form and our TLC TOSA’s will contact you to provide support.

If you haven’t visited it lately, our VUSD Teacher Resource Course on Canvas has some new resources to support you with Eureka, Fastbridge, and much more. The VUSD Teacher Resource can be found on your Canvas Dashboard or under “Courses” on your left hand global navigation bar. If you are not part of the course, please email taresamcspadden@vistausd.org and she can add you.

This section of the Newsletter is devoted to highlighting awesome resources that can be found in Canvas Commons. This month, we have selected some resources that can assist you when assigning work to students who are absent or on quarantine. If you head to Canvas Commons by clicking on the Commons icon on your global navigation bar, one of the first resources available for you is a Module of Quarantine Daily Templates for grades K-5. This resource provides a daily template for elementary students who may be out due to illness or quarantines. If you like it, go ahead and hit the blue button that says “Import/Download,” and select the course or sandbox you would like to add the module to. Next month, we’ll highlight some secondary resources!

If you have checked with your Canvas Site Expert and still need support, you can fill out our Technology Help Form and we will assist you! The technology help form is meant for help with Canvas. The IT Work order can help with technology set up (printers, monitors, etc), account supports (Aeries, Cloud Connect, etc). If you need support with Lexia or AR, these are site based and your administrator should be able to support you. If further support is needed, you can put in a work order under accounts.
