PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hi Astro Parents and Guardians!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. As we move through these critical weeks of the semester, your involvement is more important than ever to ensure our students’ academic and personal success.
We ask for your support in ensuring that students report to school each day and arrive on time. Regular attendance is essential, and this semester we are focused on reducing our chronic absenteeism rate from 34% to 24%. Please remember that a student is considered chronically absent if they miss 18 or more days of school. Students are afforded five (5) virtual learning days per semester. If you have questions or would like more information regarding the use of these remote learning days, please contact our school social worker, Ms. Drayton.
Please note that students will be out of school on February 16 and February 17 for Teacher Work Days.
Additionally, Georgia Milestones testing will take place the week of April 20. With less than 60 days remaining, it is critical that our students attend school daily, stay engaged in instruction, and dedicate time to studying and preparing. Your encouragement at home makes a significant difference in helping our students feel confident and ready.
We would also like to remind families of the following important policies:
• Book Bag Policy: Students may only carry clear or mesh book bags.
• Cell Phone Policy: In accordance with Georgia state policy, cell phones are not permitted for students in grades K–8.
• Transportation Safety: Students involved in a physical altercation on the bus, at a bus stop, or on the bus ramp may face serious disciplinary consequences, including possible expulsion.
Thank you again for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can ensure a safe, structured, and successful learning environment for all students. We hope you have a great week.
Warm regards,
Keenan Cameron
Principal, McNair Middle School

Qustodio: A Tool for Families
As part of our ongoing efforts to support digital safety, we’re excited to share that Fulton County Schools will launch Qustodio, a free app that helps parents monitor and manage their child’s online activity. This tool gives families insight into how students use both district-issued and personal devices.
For district-issued devices:
• Parents can see how much time their child spends online, which apps are being used, and what searches are conducted during the school day.
• Families can also set time limits and restrictions outside of normal school hours to encourage healthy screen time habits.
For student personal devices (optional):
• Parents can choose to install Qustodio on personal devices to monitor usage and set limits at home.
• Fulton County Schools does not have any visibility or access to data from student or parent/guardian personal devices — that information is visible only to the parent or guardian who installs the app.
To access use this link: qustodio.com/my-school to begin Qustodio. Please use your Parent Portal email address during the sign-up process.
Thank you for helping us promote responsible digital habits and strengthen the partnership between home and school.
For any questions or support, please contact myschool@qustodio.com.

Canvas Parent
Families have Parent Observer accounts in Canvas, and we are making access even easier. A Canvas Parent icon has been added to the McNair website homepage. Families can find it just below the school photo, between the Menus and Campus Portal buttons. This new feature provides a direct and convenient way for families to log in and stay connected to their student’s learning.
Please use the flyer below for additional instructions.
