LMHS Updates

This week is Spirit Week at LMHS, ending with the Homecoming Pep rally at the end of the day on Friday, and the high school Homecoming Dance on Saturday evening. Each day during the week has a theme (see below). Thanks to P.E.E.R. for putting together the details!

On Thursday, October 16 at 7pm, please join us in the auditorium for the annual induction of new members into the National Honor Society. These juniors and seniors have excelled academically over their high school career and exemplify the NHS' tenets of character, scholarship, leadership and service.

Field trips provide an opportunity for students to experience real-world applications of the curriculum, or explore facets of the curriculum that are difficult to experience in class. We have several field trips coming up in the near future. Students must bring home field trip permission slips to be signed in order to attend a field trip.

A reminder that LMHS is happy to partner with Cradles to Crayons, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit that works to end clothing insecurity for children. All donations deposited into our bin in the student parking lot remain in-state! You can deposit clothing in the bin at any time, and can even use the QR code on the bin to get a receipt for tax purposes. Please - if the bin is full, stop into the office and let us know! Don't leave bags on the ground around the bin.

This week, we will be completing fall benchmark testing in ELA and math classes. This year, we are using a new testing platform -- Aimsweb+. We believe this platform will provide us with better, more in-depth information to help assess our students' strengths and needs in the areas of reading and math.

Next week, sophomores and juniors who signed up will take the PSAT tests on Tuesday, October 21. Seniors who signed up will take the SAT test on Thursday, October 23. For both of these tests, students must bring and use their school-issued Chromebook.

• Tuesday, November 11 - Veterans Day - No School
• Friday, November 14 & Saturday, November 15 - Shakespeare performances @ LMHS

The annual Parent-Teacher Conference day will be Thursday, November 6. Conferences will be held from 1:00pm - 4:00pm and 6:00pm - 8:00pm. To accommodate this, students will have a half-day schedule with dismissal at 11:26am; all classes will meet on this day.
