Dear GLOBE families,

It is wonderful to see all of our GLOBE students back at school following Winter Break.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we begin the second semester in 2026. Please take a few moments to read through the news and notes listed below.

The GLOBE Academy

Flu cases, as well as other respiratory illnesses, are on the rise in metro Atlanta. If your student is not feeling well, please ensure they are well enough to actually be at school. Please also review the Fever and Vomit policies located in the parent handbook on page 17.

Flu A (H3N2) is circulating on campus. Symptoms are rapid onset, and include a headache, nausea/vomiting, and a sudden high fever, sometimes as high as 104 degrees F/40 degrees C. If your student is showing any of these symptoms please keep them at home while they recover. Please also make sure the school can contact you quickly in the event your child becomes ill.

Help us keep the transmission of cold and flu viruses to a minimum by encouraging regular hand washing, by not sharing food at school, and covering your nose and mouth when sneezing.

Lower Campus Clinic

Spare Clothing

Please send an entire second set of clothing with your child, especially the older children. The clinic has extremely limited space for backup uniforms, and you may receive a call to pick-up your Owl if they need a change of clothes for any reason.

Head Lice

If it’s confirmed that your child has head lice, please communicate that information directly to Nurse Kate and your child’s lead teachers. Please remember, if the school doesn't know about it, we are unable to address it. Thank you.

CENTEGIX Safety Platform™

GLOBE is pleased to report that the school-wide system installation and staff training for the Centegix Safety Platform is now complete, and will be implemented this week. Look out for a standalone communication in the coming days.

Crossing Guards

We are working hard to hire additional guards. If you are interested or know of anyone that may be interested, please have them apply here.

Help spread the word. Tour dates have been posted for the 2026-27 admissions season. GLOBE families, we need you. You are our best advocates to share news about our school with your family, friends and neighbors. The link for prospective families to register for tours is available on our website.

GLOBE’s Open Enrollment period is January 26, 2026 to February 20, 2026. The Lottery will take place on Friday, February 26, 2026.

Be a GLOBE Parent Ambassador!

The time is here to begin showing prospective families why we love our school. The Admissions Team is gearing up for the 2026-27 school year. I would love for you to join me and be a part of the tours as a Parent Ambassador. As an Ambassador, prospective parents just want to chat with you and get your experience as a GLOBE parent.

The 2026 PTCC GLOBE Auction and Hootenanny

Our annual online Auction will be held March 20–21, and the Hootenanny returns on March 21. If you’re interested in helping with planning or donations, please send us an email. We are seeking volunteers skilled in event planning, database entry, and marketing/communications.

Swimming
GLOBE's Swim Team is preparing for the MAAC Conference Swim Meet on January 16. This meet will be held during the day and our swimmers will be competing from 10am – 3pm. Currently we have won the last two meets and the next meet is Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Baseball
We are thrilled to announce the launch of the GLOBE Middle School Baseball Program. The baseball team will work in conjunction with Dunwoody Senior Baseball (DSB) under the leadership of Sean Donnelly, competing in both the MAAC Conference and DSB League.

2nd Tryout: January 14, at Medlock Park (Field 6), from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Spring Sports
Registrations will begin January 15. Tryouts will not begin until February.

Flag Football Pre-Season Camp

Flag Football will have a pre-season camp on February 2–6, so please save the dates if you are interested. A flyer will be included in next week's newsletter.

The yearbook is only as good as the pictures in it. We want your photos! We NEED your photos!!!
We especially would like: Photos of ANY GLOBE sporting event. If you go to a game during the year, please take pictures and send them to us.
