Dear Defender Families,

Happy last week of school! It has been a wonderful year, and we wish all of our Defender families a safe, restful, and relaxing summer break.

A special congratulations to our promoting 8th grade class! Enjoy your high school years, but remember — once a Defender, always a Defender.

8th Grade Promotion Information

• Promotion Ceremony: Friday, June 5 at 8:30 AM
• Gates Open: 7:30 AM (the gate at the top of the drop off loop.)
• Chairs will be provided for 8th grade students only. Families will need to bring their own chairs.
• If you plan to bring balloons or umbrellas, please lower them once the ceremony begins so all families can enjoy the celebration.

8th Grade iPad Collection

• On Wednesday, June 3, 8th grade students will turn in their iPads, chargers, and iPad crayons.

• High School Ready: As part of their promotion, incoming 9th graders will be greeted with new iPads at their respective high school campuses at the beginning of the school year.

Important Dates & Reminders:

• Wednesday, June 3: Regular school day — dismissal at 2:30 PM
• June 4 & June 5: Minimum days — dismissal at 12:10 PM

Additional Reminders:

• iPad Insurance is still available for purchase. Please see Ms. Sue in the library for more information.
• Please review the letter from Mr. Sousa regarding the end of the school year (linked and attached in the newsletter).
• Yearbooks for 2025/26 are still on sale — reserve yours before they sell out!
• Incoming 7th Graders (current 6th grade): Please review immunization requirements for the 2026/27 school year.
• Please complete the Annual Family Update, required yearly for all returning students.

Hello TVUSD Parents,

This message is intended for families with district-provided devices (iPads or Chromebooks).

As part of our district technology plan, we are excited to announce that your student may retain their device for use throughout the summer. Your child’s device has been inspected and renewed for use through the 2026/27 school year. Please note this device is eligible for insurance for $30 and you have until June 12, 2026, to purchase an insurance policy on this device for the 2026/27 school year.

INSURANCE INFORMATION

*Please note: Insurance applies to one device per school year and does

not cover lost peripherals such as charging block/cord, stylus, or keyboard.

• Insurance coverage begins July 1 and ends June 30 each year. For example, if insurance was purchased for the 2025/26 school year, coverage will end on June 30, 2026 (or on the last day of summer school for those attending).

• For continuous coverage, insurance will need to be renewed annually.

• The insurance is only good for one device per year.

• Once a claim has been filed, students are ineligible to purchase insurance again during the same school year.

• Kindergarten and 2nd grade students will not take their devices home over the summer. However, if you choose to purchase device insurance now, coverage will be in place for the 2026–2027 school year.

• Students entering 3rd grade will be issued brand new iPad 11 devices at the start of the school year.

• If you don’t already have an account set up in ASB Works, you will need to create one in order to purchase the insurance. How to Create an account in ASBWorks.

It is now time to complete your Annual Family Update in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal.

This update is REQUIRED FOR ALL STUDENTS RETURNING TO TVUSD FOR THE 26/27 SCHOOL YEAR.

Any student who does not have a completed Annual Update:

• may not be enrolled in a class for the 26/27 school year

• may not receive a schedule

• and may not be able to participate in school business days in August.

It is imperative that all families complete the Annual Family Update as soon as possible to prevent any delay in your child's enrollment for the next school year.

Please note, this process is for RETURNING STUDENTS ONLY. If you have a child in your family who will be new to TVUSD for the 26/27 school year, you must complete the New Student Enrollment process. Click HERE for New Student Enrollment instructions.

If you have a student who is riding a bike/scooter/ebike/escooter to school, they need to complete the Safe Riders Course.

Students participating in a breakfast lab consisting of pancakes, syrup, and a smoothie.

Students work in collaborative groups creating a song that will be recorded.

Students work with a partner to collaboratively complete a PE challenge relaying on communication.

Students reading music and playing beats to a song.

Students participating in a pizza and spice cake lab.

Students creating comic strips with each box representing a different aspect of The Enlightment.

Students creating Abstract Watercolors images.

Students practicing Web activities to prepare for incoming 6th graders.

Multilingual students were recognized for growth on the ELPAC, Reclassification, and proficiency on the CAASPP assessment.

Students participate in field hockey skill practice with the coach and members of the CHS field hockey team.
