Welcome Back: All of Us For Every Child

Dear Families and SCESD Community,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! On August 6, we will open our doors and welcome our students back to classrooms filled with learning, friendship, possibility, and joy. Our teachers, administrators, and staff have been preparing with great care, and we cannot wait to see our students return.

This year, our theme is All of Us For Every Child.

These words express a simple but powerful belief: every child’s success belongs to all of us. Families and caregivers, teachers and administrators, office staff and instructional assistants, bus drivers and crossing guards, nutrition services and maintenance teams, trustees, and community partners each contribute to the experiences our children have every day.

When all of us work together, we create schools where children feel safe, known, supported, and inspired to discover their strengths.

Preparing for the First Day

As your family prepares for the new school year, the following resources may be helpful:

The bus and bell schedule can be found at this link.
Daily breakfast and lunch menus can be found here.
Information about school uniform policies and requirements can be found here.
The Student and Family Information Handbook is available under the “Families” tab of the District website. A copy will also be sent home on the first day of school. Please review the handbook and make sure to sign into the Aeries Parent Portal to sign all of the required forms..

Families can also learn more about preschool, Transitional Kindergarten, Expanded Learning programs, Spanish Dual Immersion, the Salinas City STEAM Academy, and other opportunities available to students by visiting our District website or contacting their school.

Staying Connected

Each Friday, the District sends a newsletter to families and community partners with important dates, programs, celebrations, and opportunities. We encourage you to read the newsletter each week and stay connected with your child’s school. Past newsletters are also available on the District website.

Parents and guardians are essential partners in their children’s education. Your knowledge, presence, questions, and ideas strengthen our schools. We invite you to participate in school events, join your School Site Council or parent groups, attend Board of Trustees meetings, and take part in District opportunities such as our Family Leadership Conference.

Our commitment is to provide rich learning experiences and welcoming environments that support every child academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we will continue cultivating schools filled with joy, connection, and belonging, where students recognize their talents, grow as empowered learners, and understand that they have something meaningful to contribute to our world.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children. We begin this school year with hope, gratitude, and a shared commitment to one another. All of Us For Every Child. Here’s to a wonderful 2026–2027 school year!

Warmly,

Rebeca Andrade, Ed.D.
