Thanks for joining us for some updates in our 4th-grade classroom!
Hey families! Happy Memorial Day and welcome to our final week together! I can’t believe we’re here already. This week will look a lot like last week as we wrap up some really fun projects your students have been working so hard on.
In Reading, students have been preparing for a Readers Theater performance. Last week they worked in groups to practice their lines and really focused on reading with expression and emotion. It has been so fun watching them step into their roles and gain confidence. This week, they’ll be adding props, creating simple backgrounds, and doing final rehearsals. They’ll perform for the class on Wednesday—I wish you could all see how much they’ve grown in this!
In Writing, students began crafting their own “I Survived” personal narratives based on natural disasters. I am seriously so impressed with their creativity and effort—these stories have been exciting, detailed, and full of imagination. From tornadoes and floods to volcanic eruptions, they’ve really taken ownership of their writing. I love getting a glimpse into their thinking through projects like this. They’ll be finishing these up this week, and I’d love to share a copy with you if you’re interested!
To wrap up science and social studies, students have been researching a natural disaster of their choice. They’ve been so engaged learning about hurricanes, avalanches, and more, and it’s been fun to see what each student is drawn to. They’ll present their work on tri-boards, which will be showcased to the school on Thursday in the gym. They are really proud of these, and I’m excited for them to share!
It has truly been such a special year with your kids. They have each left their mark on our classroom in their own unique way, and I feel so lucky I got to be their teacher. Watching their growth—not just in academics, but in confidence, friendships, and who they are becoming—has meant so much to me. Your kids have made me laugh daily, kept me on my toes, and reminded me why I love teaching. Thank you for sharing them with me and for all the support you’ve given this year. I see the care, encouragement, and effort you pour into them, and it makes a difference. I’m really going to miss this group—let’s enjoy this last week together!
