WE MAKE DONALDSPECIAL- CLUBS!All About After School CLUBS!

What do I need to know about Donald after school clubs? What do I need to know about Donald after school clubs?

There are many after school club options at Donald. Each club meets on a different day of the week, has different seasons, different meeting lengths and even different requirements for age and selection criteria. Please read ALL the important info below and reach out to us if you have questions.

Note: This year the district requires an additional paper permission form be completed in order for students to begin participation. Each club sponsor will distribute that form specific to their club.

Theater Club (Mondays)

Thank you for your interest in our Theatre club. This club is a school club run by teachers at Donald. Theatre improves learning abilities, develops leadership and communication skills, boosts self-confidence, fosters teamwork, stimulates creative thinking and problem-solving, and encourages self-expression. We will be having open registration with an audition video due Sept. 5, limited to 2nd-5th grades. We will have a limited number of students in the club. If we have more than our cap, we will have to draw names. We will create a wait list of students if future spots become available. Last year we had an overwhelming numbers of students interested. That being said, get your form and video in as soon as possible. Our meetings will take place on Mondays after school until 4:00 PM. We will put on a fall show and spring musical.

Requirements:

1-Must be able to attend the club dates. See the following page.

2- Fill out the online form. See qr code or link- https://forms.gle/ReHMakiuJdrNU1MSA

3- Parents must be present at 4:00 for pick up. Two or more late pick ups will result in dismissal from the club.

4- Two or more behaviors that disrupt the club will result in removal from the club.

5- Send in Video clip (slate) and submit the video to the sponsors. Slating in acting is a common term used to introduce yourself as part of the audition process. Here are some key components of our audition slate:

  • Your name: Include the student’s first and last name. ( Hi my name is…..)

  • Your grade and teacher. ( I am in ___ grade and my teacher is …)

  • An interesting fact about you. ( I like to ….)

Send video to- emmettm@lisd.net

Some helpful tips:

  • Keep it under 15 seconds.

  • Use a clear and cheerful voice.

  • Be confident.

  • Look at the camera and smile.

Choir (Thursdays)

Choir is a performance group that meets weekly throughout the whole school year. We sing traditional folk and choral music, mixed in with some occasional pop songs too! In our practices we focus on matching pitch, developing our singing voice, and learning to confidently perform in two or more parts. Sometimes we also sing in other languages! Choir performs a December and May concert, and also performs at campus and community events, such as Veteran's Day, holiday caroling at nearby assisted living centers, and singing the National Anthem at a FMHS Jags game in February. There is no audition. All 3rd-5th grade students are welcome! Students will need to wear this year's Music t-shirt (usually around $15) at all performances.
