TCTA's Family Newsletter, September 28, 2026
PREPARED. PROVEN. PREMIER.
TCTA Families,
Every day at TCTA, our students are doing more than completing assignments—they are discovering what they are capable of becoming. In our classrooms, labs, shops, kitchens, clinics, studios, and workspaces, students are developing skills, building confidence, solving real-world problems, and preparing for opportunities that extend far beyond high school.
And behind every student who walks through our doors is a family that helps make that growth possible.
Thank you for trusting us to be part of your student’s journey. As you read this week’s newsletter, I hope you see more than activities and announcements. I hope you see evidence of our shared commitment to ensuring that every TCTA student leaves us Prepared. Proven. Premier.
Sincerely,
Richjetta Branch
Principal, TCTA
Grading Term Ends Soon!
Two Weeks to Finish Strong!
TCTA Families,
The end of the grading term is quickly approaching! The term ends Friday, October 9 and students have just two weeks remaining to ensure their grades reflect what they know and are able to do.
Now is the time for students to finish strong by completing any missing assignments, staying current with new assignments, and continuing to demonstrate mastery of course content. We encourage families to review grades with their student and have conversations about any assignments, assessments, or learning that may still need attention.
These final two weeks matter! Please encourage your student to take advantage of every opportunity to learn, ask for assistance when needed, and put forth their best effort as we close out the grading term.
Let’s finish strong, TCTA!
Tuscaloosa City Schools Is Phone-Free in 2026–2027
To comply with state legislation (SB92), the Tuscaloosa City Schools system is now phone-free. That means all personal electronic devices belonging to students—including phones, laptops, iPads, and smartwatches—must be turned off and stored away during the school day. TCTA is embracing this opportunity to prepare students for the workforce.
Safety is a Priority
On last school year, TCTA participated in the single-point entry safety checks on a monthly basis. We are continuing our participation on this school year. Those checks are performed at all high schools and are staffed by a security firm hired by TCS. An administrator is on site during the checks in a support capacity. We are asking parents to pick up items that are confiscated by the firm.
In addition to the single-point entry checks, TCTA administrators and team members perform metal detector and cell phone checks daily. Any phones found in use by students will be retrieve by administration and parents will be asked to pick up the phone on the first offence. Subsequent offences will result in disciplinary action as descripted in the code of conduct.
