Final Assembly: Join us 5th Grade Families
Fifth grade families are invited to our final assembly in the Wentworth gym on Wednesday, June 3rd beginning at 9:30. We will recognize and celebrate our 5th grade class as a school with a special walk in, a slideshow, a DARE recap, and the reveal of our annual whole school music video performance! The program will be complete by 10:15, and if you cannot make it we will share the video link in the newsletter following the assembly. This tradition has evolved over the years, and we love that it now includes all students and staff alongside families as we congratulate our 5th graders for all they have accomplished throughout their time at Wentworth and wish them the best in their next phase as middle school students!
5th Grade Fun Night
June 11 from 6:30-8:00 PM at Wentworth
Mahalo 5th Grade/Aloha 6th Grade
The Fun Night "Aloha" Code
We are so excited to celebrate as a class! Please note that while this is not a school-sponsored event, Mrs. Crosby and Ms. LaPerriere will be in attendance to support and celebrate with us. To make sure everyone has a blast, we’re asking all 5th graders to bring their Wentworth Respect Code to the island.
On Fun Night, we agree to:
● Be Respectful: Treat every student, volunteer, and the school building with kindness. (Leis for everyone—let’s include everyone in the fun!)
● Be Responsible: Listen to the parent volunteers and follow the "flow" of the different stations including the Gym, Crafts, and Dance floor.
● Be Safe: Keep the energy high but the feet on the ground. Use the equipment and the space as intended so everyone stays safe.
Let’s make this a night to remember by showing how much we respect our school and each other!
Class Placement Communication for 2026-2027 School Year
Dear Families and Staff,
As we shared previously, the FY27 school budget proposal has been modified following Town Council discussion and will now move to the community validation process. Budget validation voting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Until that vote occurs and the budget is finalized, some staffing positions included in the revised proposal cannot be considered fully restored. Because homeroom teacher positions were impacted in the originally modified budget request, final classroom structures at Wentworth remain dependent upon the outcome of the validation vote. As a result, we will not be able to finalize or communicate student classroom placements for the 2026–27 school year until after the budget process is complete.
For our incoming third grade students, this timing aligns with our typical practice. However, we recognize this represents a change for our rising fourth and fifth grade students and families. In most recent years, we are able to communicate placements during the final week of school so students could participate in a “Step Up” experience prior to summer break. Unfortunately, that will not be possible this year. We believe it would be detrimental to communicate placements before the budget is finalized, only to potentially revise them later if the budget does not pass as proposed. Our goal is to avoid creating unnecessary disappointment, confusion, or uncertainty for students and families.
While this adjustment changes our usual timeline, we remain confident in our ability to thoughtfully support students as they transition into the next grade level at Wentworth. We will continue to hold our By Appointment Days in August as an important transition opportunity for students and families, and we will continue to work carefully to ensure classrooms and supports are appropriately structured once the budget is finalized, and communicate placement as soon as possible so families can schedule and plan for the By Appointment Days. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we navigate this unusual timing and work to make the best possible decisions for students and staff.
As expressed by our Superintendent's communication shared last week, we greatly appreciate the active participation and commitment shown by countless community members who provided public input throughout this process. Community engagement plays an essential role in shaping the decisions for our community, and we encourage residents to continue to remain involved by voting in the school budget referendum in 3 possible ways: at Town Hall from now until June 4, by requesting an absentee ballot, or on June 9 at Scarborough High School.
Respectfully,
Kelli Crosby
Wentworth Principal
