Welcome Back Wildcats! Community, Collaboration & Standing UP!
Welcome Back Everyone!
HOORAY! We are so glad to begin SY23 and are ready to make art and change--- ASAP! We will be studying two important concepts in visual art and design this semester---perspective and emphasis.
The artists that we will begin studying are two women with very diverse experiences and art making styles---Sister Mary Corita Kent and Yuko Higuchi. Although very divergent sources, we will aim to emphasize commonalities and differences to create artworks that speak to our OWN unique perspective. Be YOU:100%.
Our outcome will be a combined image and text installation that functions as a fun, interactive community conversation starter for SY 2023! Coming Soon...We will feature some of our work at Curriculum Night 2022!
We will be kicking-off our Artists As Activists Clubs (K-8) at the beginning of September! Please join our Save the Sea Turtles Kinder Club, Milkweed & Monarch Club (1-2 grades), Students Rebuild Club (3-5 grades) or Wavemakers (6th-8th grades). Please reserve Friday after school for our meetings:). Backpack information will be coming soon!
Calling ALL 6-8 grade Wavemakers! Our first meeting will be September 2, 2022 (3:15-4:15PM). All are welcome to join us! See Mrs. Vecchioni for more information:).
Please take a moment to enjoy our new outdoor Makerspace and classroom for all---Our Secret Garden, in the cul-de-sac on Campbell Ave. near our PRE-K Entrance. Over 100 children of the 47th Ward participated in creating this new safe space for us to nurture and enjoy!
Thank you to Alderman Martin, The City of Chicago and Waters Today for this one-of-a-kind experience!
S.O.S...The art room needs NEW black Sharpies (all thicknesses) and reclaimed cereal boxes and cardboard tubes---any size:)! Don't forget to save your plastic bottle caps for our mosaics too:))!
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer in the art lab---let me know:)! Please join US!
Thank you in advance:).
With Kindness,
Mrs. Vecchioni
