Walsh Halloween ~ Friday, October 30
Walsh students will be allowed to wear costumes to school on Friday, October 30th. Please have your child come to school in their costume and with any makeup applied.
Your child’s safety is our first concern. We ask that you guide their selection of costumes and accessories in a manner that will allow them to comfortably work and learn throughout the day. If your child decides not to wear a costume, they can wear a school appropriate Halloween themed shirt (one that does not encourage violence).
Any items/costumes that encourage violence are inappropriate for children at school. Therefore, students will not be allowed to bring toy guns, swords, pitchforks, or other toy weapons.
Students may bring treats (at their teacher's discretion). All treats and snacks must be store bought and prepackaged in individual servings. No homemade treats or snacks are allowed at school. Treats and snacks may not require refrigeration and must have a clearly printed list of ingredients on the packaging. We strongly encourage you to select a treat or snack with nutritional value.
No products containing peanuts or tree nuts are allowed.
Thank you for your cooperation. We are looking forward to an enjoyable day!

Red Ribbon Spirit Week ~ October 26-30
Say "NO" to Drugs and Bullying!
Participation in Red Ribbon Week Spirit Week is not mandatory. If your child chooses not to participate, they should wear their school uniform.
PBIS "Haunted Hallways"
On October 30, the Walsh PBIS Team will host "Haunted Hallways". This is an earned PBIS Event for students that have consistently followed Walsh Expectations.
Students that have behavioral referrals for not following directions will be excluded from the "Haunted Hallways" event. However, they may participate in any classroom parties or activities that day.
We will continue to have monthly PBIS events to reward positive behavior. We will have a target behavior each month to focus on. Only students who do not receive referrals for the targeted behavior will be included in the event each month.
Mrs. Fletcher's Focus
Mrs. Fletcher is the social worker at Walsh Elementary School, and she teaches social emotional learning lessons to all students each week. What this means is that your children are learning how to solve problems, make friends, how to handle their emotions, and how to be respectful, responsible, and safe everywhere they go!
October is Bully Prevention Month! Throughout the month of October students will be learning what a bully is (mean on purpose, over and over again, power) and what to do when someone is mean or a bully during their weekly scheduled SEL (social emotional learning) time with Mrs. Fletcher, our School Social Worker.
Ways to Strengthen a Child’s Mental Health

It's Cold and Flu Season

*Fever :(100.0 or higher) The student may return to school after being fever free for 24hours without fever reducing medication.
*Vomit: The student may return to school after being free of vomiting for 24hrs.
*Diarrhea: The student may return to school after being free or diarrhea for 24 hours.
Help prevent illness this Fall and Winter. Get Vaccinated, wash your hands and cover your cough.
