MULTICULTURAL FAMILY NIGHT MULTICULTURAL FAMILY NIGHT

Thank you to the over 100 bilingual students and their parents who attended our Multicultural Family Night! Students went all out to creatively present information on their home countries and shared their projects with teachers, families, and other students. Families also enjoyed dinner from the Sandpiper cafe crew and learned about school programs and services. Thank you to our newcomer teacher Mrs. Bayer and the members of our bilingual aide team who helped organize the event. ¡Sandpipers están mejor juntos!

THANKSGIVING MEAL FOR STUDENTS NOV 21 THANKSGIVING MEAL FOR STUDENTS NOV 21

Encourage your student to try school lunch and enjoy a special Thanksgiving Feast in the Sandpiper Cafe on November 21st!

FEVER REMINDERS FEVER REMINDERS

As we enter flu season, we would like to take a moment to remind our Sandpiper family of the Walton County School District policy regarding fevers and when your child may return to school. If your child has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, they must be fever-free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school. This allows us to decrease the spread of illness throughout the school. Parents/guardians of any students found with fever at school will be contacted and requested to pick their student up from school.

Handwashing is effective in decreasing the spread of everyday illnesses and one of the best ways to keep your family healthy year-round. Please take a moment to speak with your student about the importance of washing and sanitizing their hands.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our clinic at (850)-622-5012 option 3 or ext 2719. Thank you for your support.

MESSAGE FROM THE COUNSELOR MESSAGE FROM THE COUNSELOR

zoom_out_map

Welcome Sandpipers! My name is Mrs. Rudd and I am thrilled to welcome you and your child to the new school year! As the school counselor, my role is to support your child's social, emotional, and academic development. I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment that fosters growth, resilience, and success. If your child is facing challenges at home or in the classroom, please know that my door is always open. I am here to listen, offer guidance, and connect you with resources to support your child's well-being. Let's work together to make this year an amazing one for our students!

NEW THIS WEEK

zoom_out_map

As we prepare for Thanksgiving break, we’ve been reflecting on our resiliency word of the month: Gratitude. Practicing gratitude helps us focus on the good in our lives, build stronger relationships, and develop a more positive mindset. This month, students have explored ways to express gratitude—not just through words but also through kind actions and noticing the little things that bring joy. As a family, consider taking time over the holiday to talk about what you’re most thankful for and how you can continue practicing gratitude every day."

At-Home Activity:
Start a Thanksgiving gratitude tradition! During your holiday meal, have each family member share one thing they’re grateful for. You can even write these down and create a family gratitude chain to display as a reminder of all the good in your lives.

After Thanksgiving break, we will begin our PM2 Testing, which is an important opportunity for students to show what they know and how much they’ve grown academically this year. These assessments help us understand where students are excelling and where they may need extra support. Please encourage your child to do their best! A good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast, and positive encouragement go a long way in helping students feel confident and ready to succeed. Together, we can make this a valuable step in their learning journey.

LUNCH BUNCH LUNCH BUNCH

Purpose of Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch aims to support students in developing healthy coping skills and self-regulation strategies to manage various challenges, such as:

· Anxiety, stress, or feeling overwhelmed

· Difficulty with self-control or impulsivity

· Struggles with friendships or social relationships

· Coping with change, loss, or adversity

· Building resilience and confidence

How to Join

Every student will receive a Lunch Bunch permission form. Be looking for these to be sent home later this week. If you think your child would benefit from this program, please fill out and return the form, sharing specific details on why your child would benefit and any relevant information about their current challenges or concerns. This will help me understand your child's needs and prioritize those students. While I'd love to be able to have every student in LB, that just isn't feasible. It is very important to me, however, that students that could truly use the extra support are able to receive it.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

BUS RIDERS AND TRANSPORTATION BUS RIDERS AND TRANSPORTATION

UPDATE If your child is not an every day bus rider, but may ride home with a friend or use bus to reach another approved destination, WE MUST have a parent note documenting this request on file. Please send an email to dleinfo@walton.k12.fl.us. We can also add this transportation change option for you in Pikmykid, but you must first contact our office.

Students have received bus tags for the back packs which support staff in quickly identifying the correct bus and parent. Please help us keep these securely fastened to your child's backpack.

You can track your student using the Here Comes the Bus Application. The Here Comes the Bus application provides the real-time location of your child’s bus on a map and gives scheduled and actual arrival times at home and school for bus routes.
