First Day of School

Our first day of school is August 26th!

First Day of School Details

It will be a special day for many. Kindergarteners starting their very first day of school. 8th graders ringing the bell to signify the beginning of their end to their Lyme School careers.

At 8AM, we will gather on the field behind the school. Parents/Guardians can drop their students at the field and proceed across the gully to line up for the students to parade by. Students will parade into the school and out the front door to the bell. Our 8th graders will ring the bell roughly between 8:10 and 8:15AM. Students will then proceed into school for their day.

If it is raining, students will enter the main entrance and organize in the gym. Our middle schoolers will come out and ring the bell approximately between 8:10 and 8:15AM in the rain.

School Supplies

There are limited school supplies that students might need. This link will bring you to the school supplies list. For all students we recommend:

  • Water bottle and backpack labeled with the student name

  • Colored Pencils

  • Markers

  • Scissors

***Please note that we strongly suggest that families label student articles of clothing and items that are frequently brought to school. This way we can get them back to the students instead of to the Lost & Found.***

ALMA Open for 2026-2027

If you are having trouble logging into ALMA, please reach out to Amanda Perry-Waterman in the office. There is always a link to log-in to ALMA on our school website home page.

Please complete the required forms for 2026-2027 in ALMA for all returning students. You will see this on the main page when you log-in to ALMA under your student(s) name. These are required forms for your students for this year!

In ALMA, you will find your child's teacher(s) and schedule, a way to message teachers directly, and paperwork that needs to be completed for this school year.

What to expect in Spanish Class 26-27

As you may know, the school has struggled finding teachers of world language the last couple of years. This is not unique to our school. There are a number of schools in the Upper Valley that have been unable to hire world language teachers.

This past spring, we tried hard to find a new Spanish teacher for our students for middle school. Unfortunately, we were unable to find a teacher that we felt was of the high quality our students deserve. As a result, Ms. Chandler will be teaching in both the lower school and the middle school.

Students in the lower school can expect to have Spanish two days a week. Students in the middle school will have Spanish three times a week. We have reviewed and adjusted the middle school Spanish curriculum to focus on preparing students for their high school Spanish classes. We believe that this model will continue to prepare our students well for what comes beyond in high school.

Please be in touch with me if you have any questions. ~ John D'Entremont, Principal

Middle school students who participate in the PE elective have some element of physical education four times per week for 50 minutes.

The physical education program is aligned with national physical education standards.

Students in grades 5-8 have Health Education embedded into the overall school curriculum for 50 minutes per week. This is a wellness based and skill based program that is aligned with national health education standards.

If you are interested in revisiting the Welcome Letter I sent out before the start of school, here it is.

Here's to a great year ahead!

PTO PTO

Dear Lyme School Families,

I hope everyone had a great week! I wanted to thank those who sent donations or signed up to provide food for the teacher appreciation lunches next Monday and Tuesday. We are still a little short on sign-ups and/or donations so I would like to remind everyone that we are still looking for items or funds to help provide a wonderful lunch for our teachers. Let's show our wonderful teachers how much we appreciate them before the year officially starts for our kiddos!

I wanted to send another reminder about our ice cream social & potluck happening this coming Monday from 5:30-7:00! Bring a yummy dish to share and the PTO will provide dessert. Please remember to bring your own plates and flatware to help keep the event sustainable.

I also wanted to send updates regarding our Boohoo/Woohoo Breakfast for Kindergarten families. We have an updated location which is a great opportunity for new families to check out our town library! We will be located in the downstairs meeting room just after the bell.

Boohoo/Woohoo Breakfast (for K families)

Where: Converse Free Library, meeting room downstairs
When: Wednesday, August 26th | Around 8:20 AM (after the 8th graders ring the bell!)

Calling all Kindergarten families! After the parade of students, join us for our annual Boohoo/Woohoo Breakfast to celebrate this big milestone together. The PTO will provide baked goods, fruit, juice, and coffee.

Parents from other grades- if you’d like to contribute treats, we’d love your support! Feel free to drop off goodies in front of the library before the parade.

Get Involved with the PTO!
The Lyme School PTO helps plan community building events and fundraisers, supports our wonderful teachers and staff, and funds enriching activities for students. If you love planning events or have a fun new idea, we’d love to have you join us!

We’re still looking for an additional class parent for 1st grade and 3rd grade. If you’re curious about what the role involves, please email us at pto@lymeschool.org.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon and kicking off another great school year together!

Warmly,

--
