Last spring, the Lawrence community approved a referendum to support districtwide grade-level restructuring. Beginning in the 2029–30 school year, third grade will move to Lawrence Intermediate School and sixth grade will move to Lawrence Middle School. Families and community members are invited to learn how upcoming construction projects will support this transition. Representatives from our architects and construction team will share updates on work underway and what’s ahead. The conversation will highlight plans to transform Lawrence Intermediate School into an upper elementary school for grades 3–5 and expand Lawrence Middle School to welcome sixth grade, creating a grades 6–8 middle school model aligned with New Jersey Department of Education recommendations.

Throughout the month of February, students have been learning about the achievements, contributions and struggles of Black Americans, many of which have been overlooked in the past. The culmination of the month-long celebration is the creation of the LMS Black History Museum. Seventh grade students in Cardinal Time and eighth graders in Social Studies will visit the museum in the Library during class. Displays highlight information about different individuals who students have selected and researched. Together they represent a cross-section of the Black Experience. Look for pictures of the displays next week.
