Principal Message
It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of March! Spring is in the air, and with it comes a busy and exciting few months as we head toward the end of the school year. This month, we’re focusing on the character trait of cooperation, and we see it in action every day—whether it’s students working together in the classroom, showing kindness to a peer, or problem-solving as a team.
Next week, we have the PTA Book Fair, which is always a favorite for our students! We also have half-days on March 26 and 27 for conferences. This time, conferences are by teacher request, so if your child’s teacher has reached out, please be sure to sign up via ParentSquare.
We’re also excited to kick off our new monthly “Pop-in with the Principals” in a few short weeks—an informal gathering where parents can chat with us, ask questions, and share thoughts about our school community. We would love to see you there!
Our students are deep in learning, showing kindness, and practicing cooperation every day. Thank you for your continued support—we’re grateful to partner with you in making EHE the place to be!

Pop-In with the Principals
We’d love to invite you to Pop-in with the Principals on Friday, April 4th, from 7:00–8:00 AM in the Emerald Hills Library!
Join Mr. Gould and Mrs. Schneider for an informal gathering where you can ask questions, share thoughts, and get to know your school leaders—no agenda, just great conversation over a cup of coffee. Light refreshments will be provided. We value our partnership with families and hope to see you there!
📢 Half-Days for Conferences – March 26 & 27
Emerald Hills will have half-days on Tuesday, March 26, and Wednesday, March 27, for spring conferences. School hours on these days will be 9:00 AM – 12:15 PM for all students.
This round of conferences is by teacher request only. If your child’s teacher has reached out to schedule a conference, please be sure to sign up via ParentSquare as soon as possible.
We look forward to connecting with families to celebrate student successes and discuss ways we can continue to support their growth! Thank you for your partnership.
Seed Swap & Work Party
A message from Mrs. Young:
Well, winter is finally thawing and it is about time for us to get out into the garden together! Please join us for a work party and first ever seed swap on 3/22 from 12-3:00. We will have a large load of mulch delivered from the district and it will be all hands on deck to get it spread and the planting areas prepared for the new season.
After our work is done, we hope to share a community meal and participate in our first ever school seed swap! Bring some seeds or tubers to share, or take a packet home from our EHE seed library. Feel free to send any questions my way. Can't wait to see you all out there!

If you know your child will be absent on a testing day, please let their teacher know as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for make-up testing.

Kindergarten Registration
Top things to know:
- REGISTER: The registration process is easy and it’s all online at www.sumnersd.org/kindergarten.
- KINDERGARTEN SCREENING: The District screens incoming kindergarteners as a way to plan for future learning, create balanced classes and help parents understand ways to support their child in preparing for kindergarten. Schools will contact families to schedule a screening date for later this spring.
- FAMILY CONNECTIONS: One-on-one time for the teacher, student and parents to meet and get to know each other. Your school will be in touch to arrange a Family Connection meeting for a specific date and time during the first week of school.
- IMMUNIZATIONS: Washington state's school immunization law requires documentation of immunization at the time of school registration. A Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS), signed by the parent/guardian, must be on file at the school on or before the student's first day of school.
- KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUP: Prior to kinder screening, Roundup provides students/families an opportunity to physically tour school and meet important people as well as get pertinent information regarding registration.
