FELICITA FAMILY NEWS
Week of August 18, 2024
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE 💖
👋 Hello Bobcat Families,
Our teachers and staff have been hard at work preparing for the arrival of your little one(s). We are so grateful to partner with you, and make this an incredible year!
I am relinking some of the information shared last week, because it is so critical that you read it thoroughly to understand the many changes at Felicita this year. There will no doubt be a learning curve how to navigate some of our new systems and processes, but with your help it will all become second-nature in no time!
See you Tuesday, and remember to arrive by 7:40 AM if your child wants to eat breakfast at school!
Here's to an amazing year of growth and FUN!

TK/K ORIENTATION/MEET THE TEACHER 🍎
If you are the parent of a TK or Kindergarten student, on 8/19/24 from 2:00-3:00 PM please bring your TK/K kiddo to a special Meet the Teacher and Orientation. We will let you in through the gate on 13th St. This is very important to set your child up for success on the first day of school!
8/19 WELCOME BACK MEET-UP ⚽🏀🌭🥪🍭
8/19/24, 3:00-4:00 PM come hang out with staff, students, and families! Bring a picnic blanket and a snack, and mingle with fellow Bobcats before the 1st day of school. We will be meeting on the large grass area by the upper grade playground.
Classes will be posted at the Meet-up, so come check out where your classroom is, and get familiar with the campus before the 1st day of school!
See you there!
HOT DAYS AHEAD 🔥
August and September typically have some very hot days. Please encourage your child to stay hydrated and to not wear sweatshirts during P.E. or outside. Thanks for your help with this!

DROP-OFF + PICK-UP 🚗🚙
DROP OFF:
Grades TK-2 will enter through the Tulip St. gate.
For TK/K families, it is imperative that you walk your child up to the gate the first week of school to check in with their teacher and receive a nametag. After the first week, students may only be dropped off in the loop if they can exit the car by themselves. If they require you to get out of the car to help with seatbelts, etc. you will need to park and walk them up. This will help the flow of traffic.
Grades 3-5 will enter on 13th Ave. at the very end of the parking lot (just passed the front office gate).
*If you arrive after 8:00 AM, the gates will be closed. Please have your child go to the office and get a tardy pass after 8:00 AM.
PICK-UP:
Grades TK-K will be picked up on 13th Ave. at the TK /K gate. Parents will need to walk up to get student(s).
Grades 1-2 will be picked up at the Tulip St. gate.
Grades 3-5 will be picked up on 13th Ave. at the very end of the parking lot (just passed the front office gate).
Please be mindful of pedestrians, follow signage, and be respectful of the parking lot rules, which are designed to maximize student safety.
Thank you!
BREAKFAST BEFORE SCHOOL ONLY! 🥞🥓🧇🍳
7:40-8:00 AM
1) A hot meal served in the cafeteria.
2) A grab and go option from a breakfast cart.
Benefits to these options include:
- The offering of hot meals, not just prepackaged, as currently offered.
- Fresh fruits and items previously not offered will be available next year.
- Maximized learning time---instruction will begin when school starts!
This means, it will be critical for you to get your child to school BEFORE school, if they would like to eat breakfast at school.
1ST DAY OF SCHOOL 🏫
If your child will be eating breakfast, please note there are not enough seats for parents to sit down. Lunch tables are reserved for students.
At 7:55 AM when the bell rings, you may walk your child to the outside of the classroom door before exiting. All parents must exit campus by 8:00 AM.
BELL SCHEDULE 🔔
Please be on time! Starting late negatively impacts your child's education, as they miss out on instruction and have to play catch-up.
DRESS CODE 👚🧣🧦
NO UNIFORMS REQUIRED
Your input was collected, and the majority of staff, students, and parents voted for a change to student dress code. This year, we will move to a "free" dress code, and uniforms will not be required (although you may still wear them if you so choose). Instead we will wear free dress, abiding by standard district dress code. Clothing or jewelry promoting alcohol, drugs, tobacco, violence, displaying unacceptable messages, displaying foul or inappropriate language or symbols will not be allowed. No open-toed shoes are permitted.
We will still have 1 spirit day a week-- on Fridays, when students will be encouraged to wear school colors (red and black) or Felicita shirts/gear.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS ✅
Regular student attendance plays a critical role in our collective mission to ensure every student achieves their fullest potential.
Why Attendance Should Be a Top Priority:
Academic Achievement: Regular attendance is fundamental to student success. Each school day is a building block in the learning process. Consistent attendance helps students keep up with coursework, understand key concepts, and perform better academically.
Social and Emotional Development: School is a place where students develop crucial social skills and emotional resilience. Frequent absences can hinder their ability to form strong relationships with peers and teachers, impacting their overall development.
Future Opportunities: Consistent attendance is linked to higher graduation rates and better long-term outcomes, including higher education and career prospects. By prioritizing attendance, we are directly contributing to students' future success.
School Culture: Regular attendance fosters a positive school culture and enhances the learning environment for everyone. It creates a sense of community and ensures that all students have equal access to the resources and support they need.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED🤝
If you are interested in volunteering at our school, please fill out the Volunteer Form. Thank you for your support!
LIBRARY NEWS 📚
From Mrs. Luft
Welcome back to the library! Class visits start soon where we will remind students of ROAR expectations in the library as well as refresh our brains on how to treat library books responsibly. All students must have a completed Book Borrow Contract in order to begin checking out books.
Students will also be issued their technology items the second week of school. Please be aware of our EUSD Acceptable Use Policy that can be found on the district’s website. WIFI Hotspots will be sent home for families who indicated the need for an internet connection at home during registration. Please contact your student’s teacher if your student needs the internet provided to them.
