The Baron Times
March 6, 2023
Good morning Baron Parents,
First, I want to thank you for your family's patience in dealing with our lack of school internet for the past two weeks.
As we prepare for spring break and the beginning of the last quarter of this school year, our seniors are being struck with the realization that they are finishing high school and preparing for their next stage in life. Whether continuing their education, joining the military or work force, this prospect can be a bit scary. Please take some time to talk to your student and reassure them that the “process” is more important than the “knowing where you’re going.”
As adults, we can reflect on a time when we were faced with this challenge. As for me, navigating through my university experience was not typical. Not being the "perfect” student, my grades never reflected my potential. As a matter of fact, I did not get admitted to ONE university. Instead, I enrolled at Southwestern Community College then transferred to San Diego State University. And after seven years, and three different majors, I finally graduated with a degree in Mathematics and landed a job as a math teacher at Bonita Vista Junior High School. Each of us have our strengths, and our challenges. Its never the destination, rather it’s our journey that makes us who we are.
On Wednesday, March 8th at the beginning of 3rd period, Seniors will have the opportunity to sign up for their graduation preference for June 1st at 3:30 or 6:00.
Lastly, I hope you can join me on Tuesday, March 7 at 9:00 at my second “Coffee With the Principal” held on campus in the Multipurpose Room 1212.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your principal. It’s Great to be a Baron!
Lee Romero

Yes/No: Are E-hall passes effective in the classroom?
Yes: Students are waiting patiently for their teachers to excuse them from the classroom, trying to reach their destined location. As the teacher approves the request, the stopwatch starts running. The teacher stops the digital hall pass from timing once they confirm that the students are back in class.
No: At the start of the 2022-2023 school year, Bonita Vista High (BVH) implemented the use of the E-Hall Pass—a more modern take on the traditional hall passes. Rather than students taking a pass with them to leave the room, students are now required to send a request to their teachers on the website in order to receive a pass. The pass gives students a 10 minute timer which the teacher will end once the student returns to the class. Overall, the implementation of E-Hall Pass has caused a decline in efficiency and traditional hall passes worked perfectly fine. Read More.
