Principal's Message

Happy 2026 Falcon Community,

Welcome to our refreshed DRK eNews format. This newsletter is designed to keep families informed, connected, and up to date on what is happening at Dr. Knox. The updated format is also intended to make it easier to read on mobile devices without needing to download PDFs and can be easily translated to most languages. Send us an email if you have any feedback for us!

As we settle back into routines after the break, we are working on a bit of a Hallway Reset with students. We have been using a highway analogy to support understanding. Hallways work best when everyone moves with purpose, follows the speed limit, stays to the right, and avoids stopping or parking in the middle of the highway. These shared expectations help keep everyone safe and learning time protected.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we support students in getting back into the swing of things and setting up a strong stretch of learning ahead.

All my best, Nina Ferguson

WELCOME TO THE FLOCK! Falcon Flocks are our schoolwide color teams that we are using to build connection, belonging, and school spirit across grades. Each student is part of a consistent Flock that meets throughout the year for team-building, celebrations, and shared experiences. Falcon Flocks strengthen relationships, promote positive school culture, and remind students that at Dr. Knox, we are better together. Ask your student what Flock they are in!!

Our HOLLYWOOD RED CARPET DANCE is coming up on January 26th! In the morning, we are going to be wearing our Flock colours for various Flock activities. Students are welcome to bring a red carpet outfit to change into for the dance in the afternoon (there may be prizes for "best dressed"), or they are welcome to attend the dance as they are! Any students not wanting to attend the dance are welcome to sign up for an alternate activity next week with their homeroom teacher.

Parent Learning Survey Parent Learning Survey

The Ministry of Education is inviting families of students in Grades 4, 7, 10, 11, and 12 to participate in the 2026 Student Learning Survey.

This annual province‑wide survey gathers important information about student learning, school environment, and well‑being.

Your voice is essential. Feedback from parents/guardians helps shape school planning, supports, and future district initiatives.

How to Participate

Parents/guardians can access the survey directly at:

  • Families may complete one survey for each eligible child.
  • Surveys can be completed at any time before the provincial deadline.
  • Available in English, French, and 16 additional languages.
  • Survey takes approximately 15 minutes.

Why It Matters

Your feedback helps us:

  • Strengthen learning and well‑being supports
  • Understand parent perspectives on safety, belonging, and engagement
