She will be available during all 4 lunches on May 27th & 28th and during graduation rehearsal to assist students with clearing any outstanding fees. It is extremely important that all seniors ensure that they have turned in all textbooks, library materials, Chromebook and charger, and any outstanding fees by the end of the day Friday, June 5th.

Weddington High School's Class of 2026 Commencement will be held on Monday, June 8th at 8:00am at the high school stadium. Seniors are expected to arrive and line up by 7:00am. Students may park in the student parking lot as early as 6:50am, check in at the table in the gym, and then proceed to their assigned pod for line up. We will begin the processional at 7:45am. It is extremely important that students arrive by 7:00am in order to ensure they are able to check in and be in line for the procession.
Dress code for students is business casual. Males should wear dress pants with a collared shirt and females should wear a dress, skirt, or dress pants. Flip Flops should not be worn. Graduation Live Stream:
Graduation will be Live Streamed as in years past. The link for the Live Stream is shared below.
Graduation Tickets:
Each graduating senior will receive 8 tickets to the ceremony. Each student will receive the 8 physical tickets on rehearsal day. Students are more than welcome to ask other students for any unused tickets. However, WHS will not facilitate this process or provide additional tickets. There will be three entry points for all guests: Weddington Middle School, Weddington Elementary School, and the Weddington High School student lot.
All guests will need a ticket in order to attend. Children who are 5 years and younger do not need a ticket, however, they must sit on a parents lap. We ask that you please have your paper ticket ready upon arriving at the ticket booth. The gates will open at 7:00am. All guests are encouraged to arrive early to ensure you get a parking spot and find a seat prior to the ceremony beginning promptly at 8:00am.
Safety Protocols for UCPS Events:
Per UCPS safety protocols, only clear bags, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” will be allowed into graduation. All guests are asked to plan accordingly as this will be enforced. After consulting with law enforcement and district officials, UCPS reserves the right to utilize body scanners at events. Metal detectors will be used at all stadium entrances. Please plan your arrival accordingly.
Graduation Parking:
Parking is available at Weddington Elementary, Weddington Middle and Weddington High School. We highly encourage guests to park at the elementary and middle school lots due to their close proximity.
Although there are handicap accessible parking spots at each of the parking locations, all individuals requiring additional assistance/shuttle service should park in the gravel lot off of Deal Road. Please contact Ms. Penegar at janice.penegar@ucps.k12.nc.us to request parking in this area as guests will need to present their parking pass to be permitted into the lot. Golf cart shuttle assistance will only be available at the gravel lot off Deal Road for those who need it.
Due to the number of guests attending graduation, parking will be limited. Families are encouraged to carpool and maximize the number of guests per vehicle.

Amplify WHS!
The Weddington High School PTSO is raising $5,000 towards upgrading our auditorium sound system. This space hosts dozens of events each year—from Signing Day and athletic banquets to theater productions and the Talent Show. Our auditorium is the heart of our school and our current sound system is struggling to keep up with our impressive WHS talent. An upgraded sound system will improve the experience for students, families, teachers, and guests at every event held in the auditorium. We invite you to help support this important project. Thank you for investing in our students and helping their voices be heard!

Summer Camps at WHS
We’re excited to share our summer camp opportunities taking place at Weddington High School this year! These camps are a great way for students to stay active, build skills, and connect with our coaches and programs.
A full list of camps is available on our website, organized by date. Families can click on the flyer next to each camp for detailed information and registration.
Please note: These camps are operated by independent, for-profit organizations run by our coaches. They are not affiliated with or sponsored by Weddington High School, Union County Public Schools, or the UCPS Board of Education.
We hope your student can take advantage of these great opportunities!
WHS Dance Team
As we begin preparing for the upcoming season, we are finalizing interest for the 2026
Weddington High School Dance Team.
In order to plan for team size, training schedules, and choreography, we will be closing our
interest window soon and moving into the next phase of the process.
Once that transition happens, we focus fully on the students who have expressed interest and
are moving forward with evaluations and team placement.
If your student has been considering joining the Dance Team, this is a good time to submit
the interest form and receive additional information before that process begins.
The program is open to students of all experience levels, and we are happy to provide details,
answer questions, and help families determine if it is the right fit.
→ Please fill out the Interest Form to receive the Info Packet and next steps.
