Dear Families,

Back to School/curriculum information night: Our final Back to School night was held this past Tuesday. The room was full of parents, a few siblings, and 4th/5th graders who had some great science models and activities to share, as well as math, literacy and social studies activities. I’m pretty sure all of us adults learned something new. It was a very lively space. Thanks to Kera, Mel, Kat for planning these evenings.

Thursday, October 22, Parent Conferences:

The goals for these conferences are for teachers to meet with you about your child, set and share goals, report progress to date and answer any questions you may have. This year they will also be sharing the fall STAR screening assessments in mathematics and literacy.

While there is a window, 10/5-11/6, in which fall conferences can occur, we ask, if it is at all possible, that you schedule your conference on October 22, the day set aside for them. We know there will be some unavoidable exceptions, but truly appreciate being able to hold conferences on the designated day. Thanks for your help with this.

Please see the links below for each classroom to schedule your conference. Open the link and pick an open slot and enter your name and email. You will get a confirmation email.

VTCAP scores: The scores from the spring state assessments will be mailed home to families of 4th and 5th graders next Monday. If you have questions, let us know.

Common Room/Boiler Room/Kitchen: Repair work is underway, but it’s going slowly. It looks like at least another two-three weeks to be back to close to normal. I am truly grateful to Mr. B, Sarah Metcalf, and Shavonne Kitchens for their flexibility and persistence in making things work for the students.

Lunch volunteers: Unfortunately, we still won’t be needing volunteers for yet another couple of weeks. We miss you and hope to be back to our usual service soon.

Reminder: Please send rain gear with you children when rain is in the forecast.

Have a lovely weekend.

Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301),

Best, Christina

A New Chapter for Our SEPAC, and an Invitation to Help Write It

The Addison Central Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is at an exciting crossroads. We're stepping back to ask big questions: What should a parent advisory council look like for today's families? How can we best support one another, partner with the district, and make sure every student with an IEP or 504 plan has what they need to thrive?

We don't want to answer those questions alone. We want to answer them with you.

Join us for a community conversation where families will help set SEPAC's direction, priorities, and way of working.

The SEPAC is also welcoming new leaders! Whether you're drawn to organizing events, connecting families, sharing information, or speaking up on important issues, there's a role that fits your strengths and schedule. Leadership can be shared, flexible, and as big or small as you make it.

When: Wednesday, 10/14, 5:30-7pm
Where: MUHS library & Google Meet (meet.google.com/gjk-ymhg-drj)

Questions, or interested but can't attend? Contact Jen Thompson (jenniferblackburnthompson@gmail.com) and/or Mary Slosar (maryslosar@gmail.com).
