Immunization Clinic at Battlefield on April 25th
We are thrilled to announce we are having a FREE immunization clinic here at Battlefield for all rising seniors. Prince William Health Department will be at Battlefield on April 25th, during school hours. All current 11th grade students are required to receive the meningococcal vaccine before starting 12th grade. Students WILL NOT be able to start school on August 19, 2024, without this vaccine. If you would like your 11th grade student to receive this free vaccine, a parental consent form must be completed and signed. Please stop by the front office/Bobcat clinic or download and complete the consent form. The form will need to be signed and returned to the school nurse prior to the immunization date. We hope you take advantage of this amazing opportunity and take one thing off your summer to do list! If you have any questions or concerns, contact your school nurse Mountja@pwcs.edu. The Consent form can be found at this link.
Updated CDC Covid Guidelines
Recently the CDC has updated their Covid guidelines. If you test positive for Covid and are wondering when you can return back to school, you may return if you are fever free 24 hours (without fever reducing medicine such as Tylenol/Motrin) AND if your symptoms have improved. It is recommended to take added precautions for the next five days following a positive covid test. (good hand washing, covering your coughs & sneezes, cleaning surfaces, masks etc) Also, the Bobcat clinic no longer has Covid tests available. These guidelines are the same for any respiratory virus (influenza, RSV, covid)
Please refer to the PWCS link for more information.

Celebrate National Garden Month at PWCS with PWCS Tower Gardens!
Education using gardens brings food and nutrition to life! From science to math to economics and literature, gardens are an excellent way to provide hands-on education to help students learn about where their food comes from! April is National Garden Month, so what better time to introduce garden education into your classroom or at home?! The PWCS Food and Nutrition Department recognizes the importance of educating students about Farm-to-School and its components such as agricultural practices, life cycles of plants, harvesting, and food preparation. To support this effort, PWCS Nutrition coordinates and supports the integration of garden-enhanced education using Aeroponic Tower Garden Growing Systems at PWCS schools across the Division. There are currently 55 Tower Gardens providing education at PWCS schools! Are you interested in having a Tower Garden at your school? Reach out to Meghan Leineweber at leinewmj@pwcs.edu to learn more. There are currently a couple more Tower Gardens in need of a school home!
There are many garden education lessons that can be used in conjunction with an outdoor garden, tower garden, or even just a small pot with soil in a sunny window! Get inspired this garden season with these curriculum-aligned lessons from Virginia Ag in the Classroom, Tower Garen, and FoodCorps!
PWCS Nutrition’s Harvest Of The Month Poster Contest
Would you like to see your artwork displayed across the Division?! The PWCS Food and Nutrition Department is accepting art for their Harvest of the Month Art Contest until May 31st! Every month, PWCS Nutrition features a different fruit or vegetable as the Harvest of the Month, and students have the opportunity to illustrate one of these featured Harvest of the Month fruits or veggies! Winning illustrations will be displayed across the Division and featured on PWCS Nutrition’s social media accounts. Winners will be announced in the 2024-25 school year! Follow @PWCSNutrition on Twitter and Instagram to learn more and see the winning art!
Illustrations must be submitted using a specific contest entry form (pictured below). Please ask your School Food Service Manager for the contest entry form. Submit contest illustrations to your School Food Service Manager by Friday, May 31st. If you have any questions, please contact Meghan Leineweber at leinewmj@pwcs.edu.
