Fremont Elementary School
SEPTEMBER 5, 2025
A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
It was great to see so many of you at our Zumba event Thursday night. I know how busy your evenings are, so I truly appreciate those of you who made the time to stop by. It is always wonderful to gather together as a community!
As we continue to plan for our next school year, I wanted to share some information on our class structures.
For our Kindergarten Families:
The Elementary School has one multiage classroom. A class of first graders and a class of second graders share a double classroom with two teachers. It is a two-year commitment as the first graders will remain in the class for their first and second grade experience. If you are interested in having your child in the 1st/2nd Grade Multiage Classroom, please fill out the following 2026/2027 1st/2nd Multiage Class Preference Form This is a request, and not a guarantee of placement. Click on this website link for more information.
For our Second Grade Families:
If you are interested in having your child in the 3rd/4th Multiage Classroom, or a team teaching classroom, for the Intermediate School, please complete this 2026/2027 Intermediate Class Preference Form . This is a request, and not a guarantee of placement. Click on this website link for more information.
Please only fill out the form(s) if you are interested in one of these options. You will receive an email confirmation of your submission once completed. If you do not receive an email confirmation, your submission was not received and you will need to re-submit your form. Our number one priority is balanced classrooms. We will institute a lottery system if we have more interest than spots available.
Interest forms must be completed by March 6. If you have further questions about this first grade options please reach out to me at bcarmody@fsd79.org. If you have further questions about third grade options please reach out to Stefan Ladenburger, Principal at the Intermediate School. sladenburger@fsd79.org
Sincerely,
Beth Carmody
Principal
The Multilingual Family Night was a joyful and memorable evening that brought families together in celebration of language and culture. The highlights of the event was the fun and colorful “World of Balloons” show, where balloons were transformed into magical creations. The room was filled with laughter, excitement, and smiles as families enjoyed the performance and shared the experience together.

Student Characteristic Form Due February 20
As we approach the third trimester, we are already looking ahead to classroom placements for next year. Crafting balanced classrooms is a complex puzzle where we weigh academic needs, social dynamics, and learning styles. To ensure we have a well-rounded understanding of each student, we invite families to share any additional information about their child that may not already be known by the school. If you have information you would like to add, please complete this Student Characteristic Form. We will review family input, alongside teacher observations and recommendations, as we make placement decisions. The deadline for submissions of this form is February 20. While we will do our best to consider all input, forms submitted past the deadline may not be factored into our placement process. The above form is for students returning to the ES in the fall of 2026. For our current second graders, please use this IS form.
We Need Your Help - Take the 5Essentials Survey!
Fremont School District 79 greatly values your feedback as it relates to your student’s educational experience. Once again, the State of Illinois has partnered with 5Essentials to create a forum by which you can provide your input.
We need at least a 20% response rate in order to receive a report and our current response rate for Fremont Elementary School is 12%.
If you have not already done so, we would greatly appreciate it if you would take the brief survey by visiting:
http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
Your responses are vital for continuous improvement and long-range planning for your child's school. Parents are welcome to answer the survey for each of their children’s schools.
The deadline to complete the survey is March 13, 2026.
Summer School Information
You may have already heard from your child’s teacher if your child is invited to Extended School Year, Multilingual, or Summer Scholars. These invitations will be sent via email throughout this month as teams continue to review student data. If invited, please let us know if you are planning to attend one of these programs and if you will need bus transportation. There are waitlists we will utilize in Spring after initial registrations come through.
Summer Boost is an asynchronous summer program. More information and Registration for Summer Boost will begin in February.
Save the Date: Parent Book Club - March 11
