Academy Announcements

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

Only 3 school days are left in the month of November...and one of them is a half day!!! Where does the time go??? With the holiday season quickly approaching, December is shaping up to be a very busy month at Academy!

This past week at our staff meeting, we focused on the importance of good attendance habits. Our goal is to have students in school every day ready to learn. We examined research that showed that what happens to student growth when they miss 5, 10, and even more time in a school year. We discussed how at the elementary level, poor attendance can undermine our goal of setting a strong foundation for our learners, which can have a profound impact as they get older in the areas of literacy and numeracy. As we move deeper in to cold and flu season, it's important to make sure kids are dressing for the weather, wearing hats, washing their hands and other healthy practices to help mitigate those pesky germs. Please read the health notice from the WPS Nursing Department.
Please remember to use the attendance hotline before the start of the school day to let us know when your child is going to be out 781.335.4717.
The Food Drive has one day left. Remember it's never too late to help. Final collection day will be tomorrow, November 25. Please see the list below for items we need to help those in our community.
