Upcoming CBAs
This month we will have our first round of CBA testing. It is very important that students are present on CBA days as any absence will require students to make up the tests upon their return to school. Please speak with your student about doing their best on these exams. We ask students to give us their best each day and that does not change on CBA days. Each student will have goals for their tests so please encourage your student to work hard to reach his or her goals.
Reading CBA: November 4
Science CBA: November 11
Math CBA: November 18
**Please note that on these days we will not be able to accommodate any lunches visitors. Thank you.
Event Information
Event Information
This event is for students that either did not have a picture taken at the first picture day or for students whose parents wish to purchase pictures. Please contact Croft Photography for pricing information. Because this does not involve the entire student body, the photographers will most likely be done by 9:30 am.
Field Trips
We have field trips planned for our 5th and 6th grade students on November 20. At this point we are planning to take all students to Tyler State Park (5th grade) and the Tyler Zoo (6th grade). Please note that these trips are for students only. Thank you.
End of the Semester
We have a few weeks left in this grading period. December 18 will mark the end of the 2nd nine weeks and the 1st semester. Please check in with Skyward and your child's teacher on grades. If your student is missing work, please contact his or her teacher to get caught up. The last week of school prior to the break will be hectic so please take care of this early.
Class Parties
PTMS will be having a school wide celebration on Friday, December 18. Each 1st period classroom will have their own information to send home for the class parties on this day. Parties will start at 9:00 am. This is a time of celebration for our students and our staff. Unfortunately we will not be able to accommodate any parents during this time. Thank you for your understanding.

Lunches
Students will go lunch based upon their 4th period classes. Lunch schedules are below along with times. Just a reminder that lunches are free for all students. As a reminder, fast food cannot be dropped off for students.
Bus Information
If you are looking for your student's bus information, here is how you find it:
Go to PTISD.org
Click on Departments
Click on Transportation
Click on Find My Bus
Enter your student ID# for the username and password.
Dismissal
Our final bell rings at 4:00 PM. If your student is a car rider, please ensure they know who is picking them up. We do not use car tags, so your student needs to look for his or her vehicle. The first few days will be a little hectic as we adjust to the new school year. Please be patient.
Schedule Changes
As a general rule, we do not accommodate schedule change requests unless there is a necessity. Things that might constitute a schedule change:
1. A student is missing a core class or elective (i.e: the student has 2 math classes but not a science class).
2. A 6th grade student wants to be in band (we will do our best).
3. The student requires a certain type and is not currently in that class.
Attendance
Attendance is a key component to student success. By law, students are required to have at least 90% attendance in a course to receive credit. In reality, we need them here as much as possible. However, must also take certain precautions when students exhibit symptoms of not feeling well. If you feel like your child is sick, please take them to the doctor and get a note to return to school.
**We will only accept 3 parent notes per semester. Medical notes and parent notes do not make up time towards the 90% attendance. If your student falls below 90% attendance, he or she may be required to make up time to ensure they receive credit.
Unexcused: no parent note or doctor’s note. The student will be assigned to the next available Saturday School.
Parent Note (Excused): each student will be allowed a total of 3 parent notes per semester. Parent notes will only be allowed to excuse 1 day at a time. After the 3 parent notes have been used, any further absences not covered by a valid doctor’s note will be considered unexcused.
Doctor Note (Excused): Verified doctor’s note will be considered an excused absence. However, if the doctor’s note pushes the student below the 90% threshold, the student will be assigned to the next available Saturday School.
Checking Out Early
Please be aware that our final bell rings at 4:00 PM. While we understand that sometimes doctor's appointments have to be scheduled late in the day or emergencies may come up, we would ask that all changes to transportation be made before 3:15 PM. Our primary goal is to ensure that students get home safely each day. Late changes to transportation can cause confusion and may create an unsafe situation. The front office staff at PTMS thanks you for your attention to this matter.
Campus Visitors
At this time we are planning to be fully open for campus visitors during the 25-26 school year. If you wish to eat lunch with your student, you are welcome to check in at the office and come to the cafeteria during their lunch time. Please do not drop off fast food for your student. If you have fast food, please come in and enjoy it with your student.
Free Food
For the 2026-2027 school year, all students in 5th and 6th grade will receive a free breakfast and a free lunch each day. There is no paperwork to complete for your child to receive their free meals. Please make sure your child knows his or her student number to take advantage of this incredible deal.
