Mock Build Season Recap: A Journey through Deep Space
As the 2025 FRC season looms closer, we’re proud to reflect on the success of our recently concluded mock build season, where we tackled the challenges of the 2019 FRC game, Deep Space. This journey has been an incredible opportunity for our team to sharpen our skills, foster teamwork, and gear up for the real season ahead.
Final Presentation: Showcasing Our Hard Work
To celebrate the completion of the mock build, we hosted a special robot reveal event for our parents and supporters. This was not only a moment of pride for our team but also a way to share the fruits of countless hours of design, construction, programming, and testing. Seeing the robot in action brought the spirit of innovation and dedication alive for everyone in attendance.
A Look Back at Our Journey
Over the past months, we worked tirelessly to recreate a competitive robot for Deep Space, navigating the intricate challenges of this fast-paced game.
Key Features of the Robot:
- Elevator Mechanism: Inspired by some of the best robots from the original Deep Space season, our elevator was designed to lift cargo and hatch panels efficiently to multiple levels of the rocket.
- Wrist and Shooter: These mechanisms allowed our robot to score cargo with precision and speed, simulating the intense scoring dynamics of a real match.
Team Contributions:
- Design and CAD: The robot’s intricate design was completed in record time, thanks to the collaborative efforts of our team.
- Fabrication and Assembly: Every part was carefully crafted and assembled, teaching team members the importance of precision and teamwork.
- Programming: Our programmers worked diligently to ensure smooth operation, integrating sensors and controls to bring the robot to life.
Why This Matters
Mock build wasn’t just about building a robot—it was about building a team.
- New Skills: Newer members got hands-on experience with tools, CAD, and programming, preparing them for the demands of the official season.
- Mentorship: Veteran members guided their teammates, fostering a culture of learning and collaboration.
- Team Bonding: From brainstorming solutions to troubleshooting challenges, this project brought our team closer together, instilling values of perseverance and creativity.
Looking Ahead
As we wrap up this mock build season, we’re more excited than ever to apply the skills and lessons we’ve learned to the real competition. The success of our Deep Space robot gives us confidence as we prepare to tackle the new challenges of the 2025 FRC game.
A huge thank you to our mentors, parents, and supporters who cheered us on every step of the way. Your encouragement fuels our passion for robotics and innovation.
Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on the official build season—and don’t forget to check out photos of our finished robot from the mock build below! 🌟
Here’s to a stellar start to 2025!
