A Little Late, A Little Louder, and Definitely Still Stubborn!
Dear Mayo Families -
Well, apparently even principals aren't immune to the germs that seem to be making their way around the community! And if you know me, you know that being sick and staying home do not exactly go hand in hand with my personality.
When I was a little girl and got sick, my mother would tell me that I sounded like Kathleen Turner. You can imagine the jokes that came along with that! Well, this latest virus has brought that little childhood memory roaring back (no pun intended). Let's just say my voice has been giving Kathleen Turner a run for her money!
I have spent the better part of the last week at home, repeatedly insisting that I was perfectly capable of getting myself to Mayo. Meanwhile, Mr. Moffat has been laughing at me and reminding me that there was absolutely NO WAY my stubborn self was making it through the school doors. Apparently, he knows me pretty well! I hate it when he's right.
So, I apologize that this newsletter is arriving a little later than usual. Between the sinus infection, the croaky voice, the vertigo, and my ongoing negotiations with Mr. Moffat about whether I was well enough to return, the week got away from me!
The good news is that Kathleen Turner is sounding a little better, and I am finally on the mend. I missed the hustle and bustle of Mayo, our amazing staff, and, of course, all of these wonderful tiny humans who make every day interesting! Last week was a heck of a week to miss!
A little reminder to all of us: sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down, rest, and let our bodies do their thing. Even when our stubborn selves have other plans!
Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and for being such a wonderful Mayo community. I am hearing nothing but amazing things about our Literacy Parade (the pictures are amazing!), our parent conferences and the incredible job the staff did throughout it all.
Next week's schedule:
November 2 - Day 2
November 4 - Day 3
November 5 - Day 4
November 6 - Day 1
Warmly (and a little less hoarse),
Kristin
