Principal's Message

Dear Spartan Families,

As we step into April, we are entering one of the most important and exciting times of the school year. Spring brings growth, reflection, and new opportunities and we are proud to see our students continuing to grow both academically and personally.

This month, our focus is on finishing strong. With testing season approaching, we encourage all students to stay committed, prepared, and confident in their abilities. Our teachers and staff are working diligently to support every student, and we appreciate your partnership in ensuring they come to school well-rested, on time, and ready to learn each day. Please keep upcoming testing dates in mind and help your child be present and prepared.

Please note that Easter Break will take place from April 3 through April 6, and students will return to school on April 7. We hope this time provides an opportunity for rest, family connection, and renewal as we prepare for a strong finish to the school year.

April also allows us to celebrate the positive impact our students have on our campus community. Through our Spartan Spotlight Awards our Community Champion Award, we recognize students who demonstrate kindness, respect, and leadership helping create a safe and supportive environment for all. We are incredibly proud of the character our Spartans continue to display.

As we begin preparing for the end of the school year, we look forward to upcoming events, student celebrations, and continued success across all grade levels. Your support at home makes a tremendous difference, and we thank you for being an essential part of your child’s journey.

Let’s continue working together to make this a strong and successful finish to the school year!

With appreciation,

Spartan Pride. Today and Every Day!

Mrs. Cano

What steps should a parent take in the event of a campus emergency??? What steps should a parent take in the event of a campus emergency???

Key Safety Protocols for Parents

  • Do Not Go to the Campus: Rushing to the school can block emergency vehicles and create traffic jams that hinder first responders.
  • Do Not Call/Text Your Child: In a lockdown, students are instructed to hide and remain silent. Phone usage can reveal their location or distract them from safety instructions.
  • Wait for Official Information: Watch for emails, texts, or calls from the school district before acting.
  • Reunification Process: If student pickup is necessary, wait for notification of a designated, secure reunification site

Understanding Emergency Terms

Schools typically use a Standard Response Protocol (SRP):

  • Hold: "In Your Room or Area, Clear the Halls." Used for localized issues.
  • Secure (formerly Lockout): "Secure the Perimeter." Used when there is a threat outside the building.
  • Lockdown: "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight." Used when there is a threat inside the building.
  • Evacuate: Moving students to a specific, safe location.
  • Shelter: Used for personal protection, such as a tornado or hazardous materials incident

We know testing can bring a mix of feelings for students. This optional form is a way for parents/guardians to let us know if their child might benefit from a little extra support, encouragement, or strategies during testing times. Our goal is to help every student feel prepared, confident, and supported.

Social Emotional Learning

As we continue through the school year, our counseling program remains focused on supporting the whole child (academically, socially, and emotionally.) We consistently reinforce our Core Emergent Tree Values of Safe, Respectful, and Responsible, which guide students in making positive choices, building strong relationships, and taking ownership of their actions both in and out of the classroom.

We are also continuing our CharacterStrong lessons, which help students develop important social-emotional skills such as empathy, self-management, resilience, and teamwork. Through these lessons, students are learning how to navigate challenges, manage their emotions, communicate effectively, and support one another in meaningful ways.

  • In April, we will celebrate students who earn The Community Champion Award, also focused on Social Awareness and connected to our values of being Respectful and Safe. These students help make our campus welcoming and inclusive by respecting differences, supporting others, maintaining shared spaces, and promoting a peaceful, positive school environment.

We encourage families to talk with your child about what they are learning through CharacterStrong and Spartan Spotlight, and how they are applying these skills at home and in the community. If you ever have questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your childs school counselor.
