Admin Corner
Once upon a time I was a high school athlete, as I'm sure many of you were as well. What I didn't know then, and am coming to understand now as a parent, is just how expensive it is to participate and operate these programs. In my opinion, athletics (like music, clubs, and other co-curricular groups) are absolutely an essential part of the public school experience. School districts rely on levy dollars to provide these kinds of experiences for our kids. And, I am really excited to share that we are going to add to our collection of varsity sports this winter with the official adoption of Girls Flag Football at Steilacoom. The WIAA approved flag football last spring and the 2A South Puget Sound League will manage competitions starting in late-November. It's exciting to be able to offer this opportunity to our female student-athletes! If you have a minute, please check out the additions to our Athletics website where our kids have been hard at work sharing their successes.
Getting better, every day. - Jake
