The Panther Press
May 11, 2026
As we approach the fourth anniversary of the Tops mass shooting on May 14th, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the continued pain, grief, and work towards healing that our community experiences. We understand that it may be especially difficult for children to process and understand. At EVCS, we will be honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the Tops shooting in a way that is respectful and meaningful.
On May 14th, this Thursday, we are encouraging all members of our community to wear yellow. This is a tradition we are carrying forward as part of our annual remembrance, as yellow symbolizes hope, justice, and equality. We will also be taking a moment of silence to allow reflection and in honor of those impacted by this tragedy.
