A Message from the Williston Schools Leadership Team
by Jacqueline Parks, Williston Schools Lead Principal
I hope your student(s) are settling into the school year well. Teams have been focusing on team-building, getting binders and notebooks ready, teaching classroom routines and expectations. All of these are part of the executive functioning skills that we work to develop with our students.
We do have a number of upcoming events to get on your calendar:
Monday, Sept. 8th: WFAP Sponsored Ice Cream Social for all Williston students from 6:00-7:30 pm on the WCS playground.
Tuesday, Sept. 9th: School Picture Day
Thursday, September 18th: 3rd/4th Open House from 6:30-7:30 pm
Additionally, several families have reached out about getting information about 5-8 Clubs. Our website does have this information under “Extra Curricular Activities.”
Most clubs occur during the band/chorus core time and/or lunch and recess. Some of the upcoming club start dates are shared below:
6th Debate Club: Introduction meeting on September 22nd during lunch and recess in the Club Room (1414)
7th/8th Debate Club: Introduction meeting on Monday, Sept. 22nd during core time in the Club Room (1414)
7th/8th GSA during lunch and recess in the upstairs KIVA on Thursdays (underway)
5th/6th Rainbow Club during core time on Fridays in the Mansfield Art Room (underway)
5th-8th Golden Doom Book Club begins in the library during lunch/recess on Friday, Sept. 26th.
5th-8th SPARK Program: The first rotation begins on 9/25. Look in the Buzz for how to sign-up.
We hope that your student can find at least one way to be involved in an area of interest. This builds connection and belonging and helps build our community.

If your child is in grades K-4 we are looking for volunteers to lead monthly Four Winds
lessons starting this fall.
WHAT DO VOLUNTEERS LOVE ABOUT THE PROGRAM?
"I have learned how incredibly curious little people are, and how they can be scientists
at age 5! We need them for our future, for the future of our planet!"
"Receiving the lesson [during training] exactly the way we will pass it on, being with a good group of people who care about the kids and school."
“If you want to get to know your kids’ friends and teachers, or just generally connect with the community, consider becoming a Four Winds volunteer. I am living proof that you don’t need a science degree to be a volunteer, just an eagerness to learn and share.”
The first training session will be on Wednesday September 10, 2025 in the Community Room at WCS between 8:30-10:30 am.
Email us for more information and how to sign up:: wsdfourwinds@cvsdvt.org
