Nash News
Dear Families and Nash Community members,
On Wednesday, May 3rd every student at the Thomas V. Nash School took part a Community Service Project. The students made 18 fleece blankets that they donated to the Dialysis Unit at South Shore Health in memory of Peg DelRosso. Many parents attended to help the students and staff make these beautiful blankets. Representatives from SSH’s Dialysis Unit that graciously accepted the blankets on behalf of their patients. Miss DelRosso shared a story from a special person, Nancy Young, parent of 2 former students from Nash, who was unable to attend our event by wanted to express her thanks to the students for making these blankets. Mrs. Young was a patient at the SSH Dialysis Unit this past winter and was given one of the Peg DelRosso’s fleece blankets that we donated last year.
Peg DelRosso was the mother of Miss DelRosso, second grade teacher at Nash. Peg DelRosso volunteered for 10 years at Nash after she retired from Talbots. Every week she came into school, and would stay all day to play games, read to students, student read to her, and show love to each of the second graders. They called it “Thursday’s with Mrs. DelRosso.” She loved them as much as they loved her. During her 10 years at Nash, the second grade participated in a community service project of making tied fleece blankets that were donated to Children’s Hospital in Boston. Peg DelRosso was there, every year.
About 5 years ago, Peg DelRosso became ill and in the summer of 2019 started her dialysis treatments at the South Shore Hospital. After she had her dialysis treatments, she would be so cold. Miss DelRosso brought her a fleece blanket and she cuddled right up into it. The DelRosso family wanted to make these blankets to help provide warmth and comfort to other patients going through treatments.
Miss DelRosso would like to thank all of the Nash students, parents, families, and staff for all of their contributions and support. Thank you to Joanne’s Fabrics in Hanover for giving her Dad a very nice discount on all of the fabric for this event.
This is how we ROAR with Nash Pride!
