Principal's Message Principal's Message

Good morning Horizons Community! The days and weeks are passing by so quickly! It's hard to believe that, due to holiday's, in-service days and inclement weather days, we have only attended one full week of school since January! Hopefully we are done with snow for the year. With that being said, there are less than three weeks until the end of term 3 and Spring Break! Students, your daily attendance is even more important due to the number of days that school has not been in session. Please make your best effort to be in attendance everyday. Also, please be sure to check your Canvas account daily so that you are aware of the assignments you need to do to be successful in each one of your classes. Do no hesitate to ask your teachers questions if you need help or you are not sure.

Open Lunch: Only seniors that have a form signed by their parent/guardian are allowed to leave campus during lunch. Seniors that do not have a signed form are not allowed to leave campus for lunch. Juniors and sophomores are not eligible for open lunch privileges. Students are not allowed to use Door Dash or any other delivery services for lunch.

February is Black History Month February is Black History Month

Carter G. Woodson, the son of former slave, became known as the “Father of Black history,” when he launched Negro History Week in 1926. The goal was to encourage the integration of the Black experience into the nation's communities and public schools. After 50 years of resistance, this initiative expanded into Black History Month and, in 1976, Congress officially designated February as National Black History Month. Today we continue to follow Mr. Woodson’s lead by celebrating and promoting the history, culture and foundational achievements and innovations of Black Americans. This month, let’s celebrate and honor Carter G. Woodson and all those who have come before us.
