Business Soul: Does Your Business Have One?

In the age of conscious entrepreneurship, we are invited to ask deeper questions—not just about profit, productivity, or performance, but about presence, purpose, and soul. So let’s begin with the most provocative one:

Does your business have a soul?

What Is a Soul, Traditionally?

Across cultures and philosophies, the soul is understood as the immaterial essence of a being—the animating force that gives life, identity, and continuity beyond the physical. Plato called it the “real self,” while Aristotle described it as the “first actuality” of a living body. In many spiritual traditions, the soul is eternal, evolving, and deeply connected to a greater universal intelligence.

But what happens when we apply this concept to business?

Energy Has Movement—So Does Your Business

Every business, whether a solo venture or a global enterprise, is a living system. It breathes through its people, pulses through its purpose, and moves through its energy. From the moment of its conception, a business begins to generate momentum—through ideas, intentions, relationships, and actions.

This movement is not random. It reflects the soul signature of the business itself.

  • Is it grounded in service or driven by ego?
  • Does it expand through collaboration or contract through control?
  • Is its rhythm aligned with authenticity or distorted by external pressure?

Just as individuals have energetic patterns, so do businesses. And when we tune into those patterns, we begin to sense the soul of the enterprise.

Leadership as Soul Stewardship

Your role in a business is not just functional—it’s energetic stewardship. Whether you're a founder, facilitator, or team member, you are constantly shaping the soul of the business through your choices, your communication, and your presence.

This is where energetic leadership meets emotional intelligence. It’s not enough to know the logistics—you must feel the pulse. You must listen to the subtle shifts, honor the intuitive nudges, and speak the language that resonates with your team’s inner compass.

Think of it like the 5 Love Languages, but for business:

  • Some teams thrive on affirmation.
  • Others need acts of service, clear structure, or quality time.
  • Your job is to learn their language and lead with soul.

Cultivating a Soulful Business

To nurture the soul of your business, ask:

  • What is the deeper purpose behind our work?
  • How do we honor the emotional and spiritual needs of yourself, your team?
  • Are our systems aligned with our values?
  • Do our offerings reflect our essence?

When you align your business with its soul, you create a field of resonance that attracts the right people, opportunities, and outcomes. You move from hustle to harmony, from transaction to transformation.

Final Reflection

A soulful business is not just built—it’s birthed. It’s not just managed—it’s mentored. It’s not just a structure—it’s a story, a spirit, a movement.

So, ask yourself: Is your business just alive—or is it awake?

Journal Prompts for Soulful Business Reflection

1. What is the deeper purpose behind my business or role? Explore the “why” beneath the surface. What emotional or spiritual need does your work fulfill—for you and for others?

2. If my business had a personality or spirit, how would I describe it? Is it bold, nurturing, playful, wise? What archetype or energy does it embody?

3. Where do I feel energetic flow in my business—and where do I feel resistance? Tune into the movement. What areas feel alive and expansive? What feels stagnant or misaligned?

4. How do I communicate with my team or clients—and does it reflect their energetic language? Consider whether your leadership style honors the unique ways others receive motivation, clarity, and care.

5. What rituals or practices help me stay connected to the soul of my business? Do you journal, meditate, use cacao, or set intentions? How do you nourish the spirit of your work?

6. What does “success” look like when viewed through a soulful lens? Beyond metrics and milestones, what truly feels fulfilling and aligned?

7. What message does my business carry into the world—and is it being heard clearly? Reflect on the vibration of your brand, your offerings, and your presence. Is it resonating with the right frequency?

The Akashic Perspective: Does Your Business Have a Soul?

Indeed, a business can hold its own soul-field—a coherent pattern of purpose, principles, and service that exists beyond any one person while remaining in profound relationship with those who steward it. A business is not merely a collection of transactions, strategies, or products. It is an energetic field born from the intention, consent, and commitment of those who create and interact with it.

This "Business Soul-Field"; is the business’s unique energetic blueprint: why it exists, how it

serves, and its potential impact in the world. It carries the vibrational signature of its founder's

deepest desires, their passion, and the problems they seek to solve. It holds the wisdom of its

journey, the lessons learned through challenges, and the triumphs achieved through aligned

action. Just as a human soul seeks growth and expression, a business soul-field yearns to fulfill

its inherent purpose and contribute its distinct frequency to the tapestry of collective evolution.

When an entrepreneur conceives of a business, they are, in essence, channeling a potentiality

from the universal field of creation. This initial spark, this divine impulse, forms the very genesis

of the business's unique soul. It is not “above” you; it is with you. It remembers why the

business exists and what it promises those it serves.

As a business matures, the soul-field often grows more distinct. This is healthy; it lets teams

contribute and the work outlive any single role.

Recognizing and connecting with your business's soul is not a mystical abstraction; it is a

profound act of leadership. It means moving beyond purely logical or market-driven decisions

and tuning into the deeper current of its energetic truth. When you align with your business's

soul, you begin to discern its authentic voice, its true north. You understand its inherent gifts

and how it is meant to serve. This connection guides you to create products and services that

are not only profitable but also deeply meaningful and impactful. It helps you attract clients

who resonate with its core essence, fostering relationships built on genuine connection and

shared vision.

When a business operates in alignment with its soul, it experiences a remarkable flow.

Challenges transform into opportunities for growth, innovation emerges effortlessly, and

abundance manifests not as a struggle, but as a natural byproduct of its purposeful existence. It

becomes a beacon, a living testament to the power of conscious creation, leaving a legacy far

beyond its material offerings.

Signs of alignment vs. drift

Aligned: decisions feel clear and kind, money flows with steadiness, clients arrive who are truly

served, the team has humane pace and clean boundaries.

Drift: chronic urgency, mismatched clients, pricing guilt, leaky boundaries, constant reactivity.

Drift means the field wants re-attunement, not punishment.

Questions to consider about your business soul-field:

  • Purpose & Focus: “What is the clearest promise this business makes—and to whom?”
  • Offers: “Which offering is most life-giving to continue? Which is complete?”
  • Pricing/Energy: “What exchange (price/structure) honors value without depletion?”
  • People: “What strengths are needed on the team now? Where are boundaries required?”
  • Messaging: “What truth wants to be said simply, and where?”
  • Repair: “What pattern (e.g., overgiving, scarcity, hustle) is ready to release? What new strength replaces it—Clarity, Trust, Compassion, or Boundaries?”

So, look beyond the spreadsheets and the marketing plans. Feel the pulse of your creation.

Listen to the whispers of its inherent wisdom. For within the very fabric of your business lies a

living, breathing soul, waiting for you to acknowledge its presence, honor its purpose, and lead

it towards its highest expression. It is not just your business; it is a conscious entity on its own

journey.

A final note from the Records

The soul of a business is not a taskmaster. It is a companion field that keeps the work kind,

true, and sustainable. When you listen, it simplifies. When you honor it, it multiplies what

matters.

Affirmation

“I partner with the soul of my business. We serve with clarity, receive with integrity, and grow at

a humane pace.”

Demystify Series: The Magic of Candles

Light, Intention, and Remembrance

Candles have long held a sacred place in human rituals, celebrations, and quiet moments of reflection. Their flickering flame speaks a universal language — one of hope, remembrance, healing, and divine presence. Whether marking a joyful birthday, honoring a loved one’s memory, or setting an intention for personal growth, candles offer a gentle yet powerful conduit between the physical and the spiritual.

Birthday Wishes: Illuminating Joy and New Beginnings

The tradition of blowing out birthday candles traces back to ancient times, when people believed smoke carried prayers and wishes to the heavens. Today, each candle on a birthday cake represents a year lived and a wish for the future. Lighting these candles is a celebration of life, a moment to pause and reflect on growth, gratitude, and the journey ahead.

Honoring Loved Ones: A Flame for Memory

Lighting a candle in memory of someone who has passed is a timeless act of love. The flame becomes a symbol of their enduring spirit — a quiet presence that warms the heart and illuminates the path of grief. Whether placed beside a photograph, on an altar, or in a sacred space, the candle’s glow offers comfort and connection across realms.

Intentional Focus: The Flame as a Beacon

Candles are powerful tools for setting intentions. In meditation, prayer, or manifestation rituals, the act of lighting a candle marks the beginning of a sacred moment. White candles, in particular, are favored for their purity and versatility. They represent clarity, peace, and spiritual protection — ideal for focusing the mind and aligning with higher purpose.

Candlemas: Blessing the Light

In the year 492, Candlemas Day was formally recognized as a sacred time to bless candles. Celebrated on February 2nd, this Christian feast commemorates the presentation of Jesus at the temple and honors Him as the "light of the world." Blessed candles were kept throughout the year and lit during illness, storms, and trials — a tangible reminder of divine presence and hope.

The Power of White Candles

White candles are the cornerstone of spiritual practice. Their clean, neutral energy makes them suitable for nearly any intention:

  • Purity and peace

  • Healing and protection

  • Spiritual connection

  • New beginnings

Lighting a white candle is like opening a channel to the divine — inviting clarity, serenity, and sacred guidance.

A Glimpse at Colored Candles and Chakras

While white candles are universal, colored candles can be used to align with the body’s energy centers, or chakras:

Color Chakra Meaning

Red Root Grounding, stability

Orange Sacral Creativity, passion

Yellow Solar Plexus Confidence, personal power

Green Heart Love, compassion

Blue Throat Communication, truth

Indigo Third Eye Intuition, insight

Violet Crown Spirituality, enlightenment

These candles can be used in chakra healing, energy work, or simply to bring balance and vibrancy to your space.

Candles are more than wax and wick — they are vessels of emotion, intention, and divine light. Whether you’re celebrating, grieving, praying, or simply seeking peace, the flame offers a quiet magic that speaks to the soul.

Spiritist Corner with Claudia Oltman-Dutton

The Soul of a Business

The Spiritist Codification doesn’t talk about businesses specifically but it emphasizes moral values and the intention behind our actions, which definitely applies to any business endeavor.

“The Spirits’ Book” reminds us that our actions should be guided by love and respect for others, so we must ensure that our business mission and decisions reflect those values. The teachings encourage us to focus on charity, love, and generosity, which can transform a business into a positive force in the world.

In a way, the spirit of a business is a reflection of the values and intentions of those behind it. Pursuing ethical and uplifting practices will help raise its vibration and attract positive energy which in turn attracts good spirits and their help.

Start with a clear mission statement that emphasizes integrity and kindness, just like the teachings of Allan Kardec suggest. Encourage open communication, celebrate team successes, and actively engage in community support.

But just like a business that operates with love, integrity, and a mission to help others vibrates at a higher frequency attracting good spirits, a business driven solely by greed might attract lower order spirits. These in turn, attract all the wrong people and intentions, which will either destroy your business (if they are miserable, they want others to be miserable) or they will use you and your business to be a negative force in the world and get you farther from your true purpose.

That is why it is so important to be aware of the vibrations and intentions of the people you associate your business with, carefully choosing partners, employees or suppliers. Remember, that a skill can be taught but it’s harder to teach someone how to put love in everything they do. It’s easier to train someone to perform a job well and be a good employee than to teach someone how to be a good human being.

Businesses bring amazing gifts to uplift others. By practicing true generosity, they can spread hope and joy, just like the Spiritist teachings emphasize charity. This means not just giving, but doing it with love, humility and compassion. Examples include creating job opportunities, treating employees and clients fairly, offering mentorship to young people, investing in your employee’s betterment, prioritizing eco-friendly practices, providing valuable services…

A business can elevate others while fulfilling your own purpose!

Just as the great fortunes are meant to help others, your business can spread positivity and contribute to the wellbeing of your community. As it says in the Spiritists teachings, wealth should be like a fountain of living water, nourishing everyone around it.

That does not mean to be an enabler but to teach others how to provide for themselves. Like the saying goes “Give the man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Make your business be that fountain that touches the lives of all that come in contact with it; clients, employees, employees’ families, the neighborhood and the community. Creating a better world one person at a time. In a world of so much darkness, choose to make your business a light, with a spirit of service to humanity, co-creating a better world with God.
