Building Positive Habits Together Building Positive Habits Together

Dear Families,

At Blackshere Elementary, we are excited to continue building a positive school culture through our House System, which encourages teamwork, responsibility, and school pride. As part of this system, we will be launching a House Challenge for students.

Each student belongs to a school “house” and can earn points for demonstrating our school-wide expectations, such as being ready, responsible, respectful, safe, showing effort, and demonstrating kindness. Points are earned individually, but they contribute to the total score for each house—encouraging collaboration, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.

To ensure fairness, house points are normalized based on house size, meaning all houses have an equal opportunity to succeed. The focus of this challenge is not competition alone, but consistency, positive behavior, and growth.

At the end of the challenge period, houses that meet the established goal will earn a school-wide reward to celebrate their efforts and commitment to making Blackshere a great place to learn.

We encourage families to talk with their children about positive choices, teamwork, and doing their best each day. Small actions truly add up!

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to promote a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment for all students.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Henline

Principal

Parent Drop Off Procedures Parent Drop Off Procedures

To keep arrival safe and efficient, please follow these procedures when dropping off your child:

  1. Enter the school parking lot and turn right. Follow the loop to the designated parent drop-off area (marked with a yellow sign).

  2. Use the drop-off loop to let your child out. Staff will be present to greet your child and assist them into the school.

  3. If you wish to walk your child to the front of the school, please park in the parking lot.

    • For safety reasons, parents should not enter the building. A staff member will walk your child inside.

  4. Pre-K parents: Drop-off will take place at the Pre-K playground area. Please use the side parking lot and walk your child to the teacher. This keeps buses moving safely during morning drop-off.

  5. Do NOT drop off your child in the bus lane in front of the school. This lane is for buses only.

Thank you for helping us keep drop-off safe, smooth, and welcoming for all of our students!

Parent Pick Up Procedures Parent Pick Up Procedures

Parent Pick up begins at 2:20pm

All parents PreK through 4th use this procedure for afternoon pick up.

To ensure dismissal runs smoothly and safely, please follow the directions below when picking up your child:

  1. Enter the school lot and proceed to the student drop-off loop to the right. Begin parking in the loop.

  2. Once the loop is filled, cars will then line up in front of the school around the loop.

  3. After that area is full, cars will line up down the entryway of the school.

    • If you are parked on the entryway, you must remain there until all cars in the loop have been sent through the line. You will then follow the last car through.

During Dismissal:

  • Mrs. Henline will be outside, calling student names to teachers and directing traffic.

  • Please have your child’s name sign visible on your rearview mirror for easy identification.

  • Pull forward to the numbered markers. Staff will escort students directly to your vehicle.

  • Unless you need to buckle your child into a car seat, please stay inside your vehicle to keep the line moving quickly and safely.

  • Once your child is secured, move forward promptly so dismissal can continue efficiently.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation in helping us keep dismissal safe and organized for all students!
