August is upon us, and teachers and staff are gearing up for our 2023-24 school year! We have a busy August planned, with New Student Orientation (Soft Start) Aug. 15 -17, our annual Sweets & Greets on Aug. 17, and then our annual Fall In the Field outing the week of August 21.

We are excited to meet our new students, and to welcome back our returning 7th and 8th-graders!

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce Liam Nugent, who is a new addition to our Valley School staff. Liam will be taking on dual roles here at TVS, as our OPL Co-Teacher, and as our Athletic Director. Welcome Liam!!

Liam joined the TVS team in the fall of 2023 as the Athletic Director/Occupations and Practical Life Co-Teacher. They grew up in the Portland-metro area where their life was shaped by athletics - he was involved in a number of sports, including soccer, wrestling, rowing, dance, and golf.

As an adult, Liam relocated to the Rogue Valley to attend Southern Oregon University. There, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and a minor in Communications. He has years of experience working with youth and is dedicated to providing an equitable, inclusive, diverse education for all students. They value the distinct educational approach that TVS provides, giving all students an opportunity to succeed in a way that embraces their unique identities and strengths.

Liam loves to stay active, going hiking and being outdoors any chance they get. He’s a puzzle enthusiast, bird watcher, bookworm, and music lover. When you see them around, give them your best book recommendation and favorite hiking spots!
