Bobcat Bulletin
May 29, 2026
Greetings Moretown Community and Caregivers,
It’s hard to believe that today marked the last day of learning in the month of May. On Monday, we begin the countdown to our final few weeks and days of the school year.
This week, students took to the water during ECO to study aquatic macroinvertebrates — the small creatures that live on riverbeds and help us understand the health of our waterways. Luke Foley from Friends of the Mad River continued our valued partnership with the school and led this exciting discovery effort. Students were thrilled to observe our waterways waking up as new life begins to emerge with the changing season.
Next week, we will host our annual Step Up Day on Friday, June 5th. In preparation for this event, we will share next year’s class placements with families on Thursday, June 4th. Our staff has spent considerable time and care creating balanced classroom communities for next year. Placement decisions are based on a variety of factors, including academic needs, social and emotional dynamics, learning styles, peer relationships, and overall class balance.
Yearbooks were distributed to students this week and are absolutely beautiful. Many thanks to Louisa Wilson, Natessa Cournoyer, Jason Stevenson, and Carla Tepper for their hard work and dedication in bringing this year’s book to life. If you are still interested in purchasing a yearbook, you may do so using this link. Please note that there is no guarantee that yearbooks ordered at this time will arrive before the end of the school year.
As the weather continues to shift toward summer, we want to remind families to continue sending students with layers. Because students spend a considerable amount of time outdoors throughout the day, it is important that they are prepared for a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend as we say goodbye to May and welcome the start of June. I look forward to welcoming our students back on Monday.
Ms. Kate
MES 6th Grade Graduation – June 17, 5:30 PM
We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the accomplishments of our 6th grade class.
Friends of ECO is looking for 1-2 new members to join our team.
Friends of ECO supports and advances the ECO program at Moretown School to provide a strong and lasting foundation of outdoor learning for students, families and the larger community. The group meets regularly (every one to two months) to work on projects such as fundraising, needs assessments, project facilitation, and budgeting to ensure ECO is thriving at MES. We collaborate closely with Moretown School staff and aim to promote awareness of the ECO program to the greater community.
If you deeply believe in the benefits of outdoor learning, connection to nature and environmental stewardship, and you would like to join the team that helps ensure this programming can continue into the future at MES, please email ecofriendsvt@gmail.com
