On Monday, January 27, 2025, we are thrilled to welcome 515 students to the Gompers Growth Dance. That's 70% of our students!!! They will enjoy a professional DJ, laser lights, and snacks from 1:10-2:35 in the gym. To qualify to attend the dance, students needed to meet their growth goal in math or reading on their STAR assessment. In addition to these students meeting their goal, a significant number of students also made significant growth and are poised to be part of the next celebration in the spring. We are proud of all our students making such a great effort to make improvements in math and reading.

ACCESS testing is an important test to assess the reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills of all our English Language Learners. Two of these tests will take place on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. We ask that all parents ensure their students get a good night's rest, bring a fully charged Chromebook to school, arrive to school on time, and eat a healthy breakfast. Please encourage your student to "Do your best on the tests!"

Your student's progress report card for the second trimester is ready. Please log in to Aspen to review your student’s grades. Contact your student's teachers if you have any questions or wish to request a call or meeting. Together, we can help your student achieve high levels of success.

Last year, Gompers participated in a recycling program which turned 1,000 pounds of flexible plastic into a plastic bench. The bench is in front of our office for students to enjoy as needed. This year we set a goal to get another 1,000 pounds for another bench. As of this past week, Gompers has gathered 1,047 pounds in half the time it took us last year. Thank you to everyone sending in your flexible plastic to recycle. With your help, we can reach a new goal of two benches this year. The benches will be a great addition to our new building. Go HAWKS!

We are pleased to inform you that after-school tutoring will begin on Tuesday, January 14th, for all students who have signed up. On that day, students will first go to their lockers and then report to Room 60 after school. Please ensure that rides arrive promptly by 3:45 p.m. at the front of the school for pick-up. As a reminder, tutoring will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, ending at 3:45 p.m., unless otherwise announced. Please note that there will be no tutoring on Wednesday, January 15th; however, tutoring will resume on Thursday, January 16th. If you are interested in your student participating in after-school tutoring, please contact the main office to request a tutoring form.

Attendance Tips: Consider creating a transportation back-up plan to get your child to school can be a lifesaver especially during the winter months when unforeseen issues arise, like inclement weather or car troubles. Carpooling with other parents or establishing a “walking school bus” with other families in your neighborhood can be safe alternatives to ensuring your child gets to school safely every day. No matter the season, regular school attendance is always important.
