Cliff's Notes
Dear Bedford Public Schools Community,
At the October 8th school committee meeting held at Hanscom Air Force Base, the final 2024-2027 Strategic Plan was approved. Stay tuned for more information out the school start time and middle school math working groups. At the same meeting, we were able celebrate Bedford High's Purple Star Award designation with Commander Jimenez and two HAFB students who shared their stories. BHS senior Victoria Reidling is pictured below with me, school committee members, including HAFB representative Kim Howell, HAFB Family Liaison Laurel Wironen, and Commander Jimenez.🥦 And why is there broccoli pictured above you ask? Read more below about the Food Services team's hard work to bring more fresh food options to our students, early progress toward our strategic plan wellbeing stretch goal!
Best,

On Tuesday, October 8th, the School Committee meeting was held at Hanscom Air Force Base, preceded by a meet & greet with HAFB parents and Commander Jimenez. The committee heard from BHS students senior Sylvia Dougherty and junior Victoria Reidling (pictured with Principal Galante, HAFB family liaison Laurel Wironen, and Commander Jimenez) and was able to share BHS' purple star designation with the HAFB team. The committee also approved the district's 2024--2027 strategic plan. The school committee meeting schedule and supporting materials can always be found at School Committee - Meeting Schedule & Supporting Documents.
We are happy to report early progress on our newly approved strategic plan wellbeing stretch goal to increase investment in the availability (breakfast), variety, and quality of food nutrition options for students. At BHS and JGMS, Bedford Food Services has been introducing some new menu options. Tuesday's menu at BHS featured Street Tacos with Pork Carnitas, Garden Salsa, Sour Cream and Fresh Pico De Galo made with fresh diced tomato, fresh red and green onion, fresh green pepper, fresh cilantro, lime juice and spices was served. At JGMS the menu featured fresh oven roasted broccoli and sweet cantaloupe smiles. These are just 3 fresh items that we have started to use throughout the district. Click here to view school menus. Thank you to the entire food services team!
