Spotlight
As we look ahead to the coming weeks, we want to take a moment to inform all families about Count Day on October 1.
All schools within DCSD, including PCK, receive funding through the Public School Finance Act, which provides financial support for public education. The amount of funding each school receives is directly tied to the number of students who are enrolled and in attendance on Count Day.
This day is critically important for PCK, as our school’s budget is determined in part by the student attendance recorded during this time. Accurate attendance data ensures that we receive the necessary funding to support our programs and services throughout the year.
While we understand that illnesses and emergencies may arise, we kindly ask families to avoid scheduling appointments or planned absences on October 1 if possible. Your cooperation helps us ensure a full and accurate count of our student population.
Carpool Reminders
To help clarify our carpool procedures for pick-up in the North, South, and West loops, we partnered with Deputy Sandifer to create a helpful video resource. This video addresses some common issues and provides guidance to ensure a smoother carpool experience.
If you have any questions about the laws related to our carpool process, feel free to contact Deputy Sandifer directly at SRO@ckcs.net.
8th Grade Graduation Committee
As we look ahead to another exciting school year, PCK is already beginning preparations for this year’s 8th Grade Graduation. We’re now inviting parents of 8th grade students to express their interest in joining the 8th Grade Graduation Committee.
If you have a passion for event planning or simply want to help make this milestone truly special, we encourage you to get involved. Your creativity and dedication will play a key role in creating a memorable celebration for our graduating students.
Please click the button below to access the form.
Science
Last month we shared news about our Butterfly Waystation project, and we’re thrilled to announce that it has now been officially listed on the national Monarch Registry.
What began last school year as a conservation effort during Earth Week has since blossomed into a recognized and impactful initiative.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our generous community donors who provided the seeds that made this project possible. Your support has helped us beautify our campus and create meaningful learning experiences for our students.
If you'd like to see the registry, please click below and search for Parker Core Knowledge.
Lightning Dismissal
With the number of indoor carpool releases we've already had in this short school year, we want to take a moment to clarify how dismissal works during inclement weather, and what parents should expect during these situations.
When lightning is present at dismissal time, students are required to remain indoors for their safety. Parents or guardians will need to walk to their designated carpool pick-up doors, located at the North, South, or West loops, where staff will release students individually.
As you approach the school entrance, please hold up your carpool tag so that staff can easily identify you and radio your child’s teacher. This helps us ensure a smooth and efficient pick-up process.
If you have multiple children, especially if one is in 5th or 6th grade, please be aware that you may need to visit more than one carpool loop. During indoor dismissal, students are not allowed to walk between buildings, so you'll need to go to each designated loop separately. For example, if you have a kindergartener and a 5th grader, you’ll need to go through both the North and West loops.
We understand that this process may be inconvenient at times, but we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to keep all of our students safe during severe weather conditions.
Dress Code Reminder
We’d like to remind families about the dress code expectations for dress down days. During our first dress down day of the school year, a few students arrived wearing Crocs, slippers, and boots, which are not allowed.
Please note that Crocs, slippers, and any type of boots are not permitted on dress down days or regular school days.
The only exception for boots is if students wear them to school or for recess. In those cases, they must change into dress code-compliant shoes upon entering the building.
For more details, feel free to review our full dress code policy by clicking the button below.
Recess Club
New to PCK this year, Recess Club is a fun and supportive afterschool program designed for kindergarten and 1st grade students. It offers a structured environment where children can learn classic playground games and make new friends along the way. Through guided play, students will build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and practice positive social interactions.
The club meets every Tuesday that school is in session, from September 9 to October 7, 3:20–4:15 p.m.
If you’d like to register your child, simply click the button below.
Glee Club
If you love to sing and want to help bring some energy and joy to our Monday mornings at PCK, the Glee Club is the perfect place for you.
Rehearsals will begin on Monday, September 8, and will take place in the afternoons from 3:10–4:00 p.m. Starting October 20, practices will shift to Monday mornings at 7:35 a.m. Please note that this club is exclusively for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.

Spirit Day
Tomorrow, Friday, September 5, marks the first PCK Spirit Day of the 2025–26 school year.
If you're new to PCK Spirit Days or just need a quick refresher, please take a moment to review the guidelines below on what students are allowed to wear.
What are Spirit Days?
Spirit Days take place on the first Friday of each month when school is in session. On these days, students may wear an official PCK Spirit Shirt in place of their regular uniform top. However, all other dress code rules still apply: uniform bottoms must be worn, and shirts must remain tucked in throughout the day.
If your student needs Spirit Day attire, feel free to visit the PCK Spirit Store below. Please note that items from the Spirit Store are only approved for Spirit Days and designated dress-down days, they do not meet daily dress code requirements.
Building Corporation
We are currently seeking two dedicated community members to serve on the PCK (CKCS) Building Corporation, an essential governing body that supports the long-term infrastructure and financial planning of our school.
The Building Corporation plays a critical role in the stewardship of PCK’s facilities. As a separate nonprofit entity affiliated with the school, the Building Corporation holds title to the school property and collaborates closely with the Board of Directors.
We especially encourage individuals with professional backgrounds in finance, deeds, permits, or project management to consider applying, though all interested community members are welcome.
If you are interested in being considered for appointment to the Building Corporation, please complete the interest form linked below.
Homework Club
Homework Club is back for the 2025-26 school year. The club runs from Monday-Thursday each week, and is only on days that school is in session. Please note that this club is exclusively for students in grades 3-6.
At this club students will have the opportunity to work on their homework while a teacher is there to guide them through. Homework Club will meet from 3:20-4:15 p.m. in Room 115, next to the Art Room.
High School Information Night

By giving students a broad overview of their choices, we aim to help them make informed decisions and ensure a smooth, and confident transition to high school.

From the SAC
Wednesday September 10, 2025 at 8:15 am in the MS Commons
The Student Accountability Committee (SAC) warmly invites the PCK community to join them for an opportunity to engage with their team and learn more about the vital role they play within Parker Core Knowledge.
The SAC serves an essential function by providing accountability in an advisory capacity. Their purpose is to inform, encourage, and create opportunities for parents or guardians to engage meaningfully with the school's performance, budget and improvement plans.
Volunteer Spotlight
This week, we are thrilled to shine our Volunteer Spotlight on a very special group, our Classroom Coordinators. These dedicated volunteers have just stepped into their roles for the new school year, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their willingness to serve.
Classroom Coordinators play a vital role in creating a supportive, engaging, and fun environment for both students and teachers. From organizing classroom celebrations and special events to coordinating teacher appreciation efforts, they help bring our school community together in meaningful ways. Their creativity, organization, and generosity of time make a lasting impact throughout the year.
Thank you to each of our Classroom Coordinators for saying "yes" to this important role.
Your efforts help create memorable moments and a sense of connection that enriches our school for everyone. We’re excited to see all the wonderful things you'll help make happen this year.
